I Tried Huda Beauty’s Newest Eyeshadow Palette and It’s the Gloss Hybrid That Wins For Me

The latest drop includes 18 shadows full of new textures I have yet to try, like creamy marble, along with a pearly gloss hybrid — both of which can initially seem overwhelming. If you’re like me, you like a palette that is not going to limit your options and offer shades that you can use every day. This is exactly what caught my attention seeing pigments of browns, reds, and pinks. When I first heard about this release I immediately thought about one of my first Huda Beauty purchases, which was the New Nude Eyeshadow Palette but the colors in the Naughty Nude range are more rich and pigmented.

To get the look above, I blended in Spicy and Arouse (two matte shades) on my eyelids first, bringing it down into the middle of my lid for a smooth dark brown base. I started as basic as possible because the shimmery shades were calling my name. I didn’t really know the look I was going for, but I wanted to make my eyes look sultry with a pop of pink color (Desire) in the corners. Then, I played around with Provocative (a gold gradient metallic) and Tantric (a cream-colored shimmer), applying them to the center of my eyes to give the matte base some vibrancy — and it instantly made the look come alive. If I wanted to stop there, I could have. The multi-reflective colors are a real plus for anyone who likes to add a little bit of eye makeup and be on their way. You can rock one layer and look amazing.

Still, what I love about Huda Beauty is how they integrate the latest beauty trends into its products. In this case, that’s the glossy lids trend. I’ll be honest here, it’s not a look I ever saw myself wearing outside a selfie, but this palette changed my mind immediately. There is beauty in a no-mess look. You can work so hard to get to a certain part of your look and one mistake can take you back three steps. That was not the case here. As soon as I pressed my finger into Slippery (a pearly gloss hybrid) the temperature of my finger melted the formula, making the application buttery soft. I made sure to wait for the gloss to dry, but the sheen on top of color was a cool way to elevate a simple look and I did say to myself, “This is one wet Ass Palette.” I’ll gladly take the L for that one because I mean it.

I love when an eyeshadow palette does all the work for me, and I’m excited to play around with Naughty more for date nights and my next social-distancing outing. Want to try it for yourself? The Huda Beauty Naughty Nude Eyeshadow Palette will be available for purchase on Nov 1.
