Three blonde colour trends to see you through from now until winter

Blonde can be done in many different ways.

Though a tricky colour to maintain, you can choose a blonde style that takes more or less work – depending on how much you want to commit.

Over the summer months, hair trends tend to favour lighter tones that reflect the ‘sun-kissed’ nature of the season.

Adam Reed, UK editorial ambassador for L’Oreal Professionnel, says there are three blonde styles in particular that feel right for the end of summer, going into autumn.

These are his top styles.

French balayage blonde

Though this is the most low maintenance blonde styles get, it needs a professional to get it right at the start.

Adam tells Metro.co.uk: ‘French Balayage is a technique that blends colour seamlessly into hair and is beautifully toned, it looks beautiful, luminous, healthy-looking and completely effortless – yet, it takes a huge amount of skill to blend the colour this seamlessly, something only achievable in salon with a professional.’

As for after-care, Adam recommends using products that give a ‘glass-like reflective look’, such as L’Oréal Professionnel Serie Expert Absolut Repair 10-in-1 Oil, which hydrates too.

‘To keep this look looking its best, ensure you book regular top-up appointments at your salon every six to eight weeks,’ he adds.

Brick Lane bombshell blonde

This trend is all about going golden – not too cool or warm, it’s just in the middle.

Adam describes it as a ‘beautiful bright blonde with gorgeous golden, bright highlights throughout the hair’ and the ‘goldilocks’ of blonde tones.

‘As always, maintaining hair health is paramount of importance,’ he says, ‘but is particularly important for this look to ensure the colour maintains vibrancy, so ensure you use a hydrating and repairing mask that will repair and strengthen hair.

‘The best way to keep this golden bright hair is to pop back into your salon every four to six weeks for a toner treatment.’

Big smoke blonde

To get this ashy blonde, you’ll likely have needed more bleach than the other styles above, so after-care is important.

But the good news is, Adam says it’s easier to maintain than you think, especially if you add in sandy tonal highlights for a greige finish.

‘This is incredibly easy to maintain and there are so many options dependent on your hue – always consult a professional to discuss the best route for you,’ he says.

‘To keep the colour cool and silver, ensure you are using a shampoo at home to prevent yellow-y tones.

‘I love L’Oréal Professionnel Silver Shampoo that contains magnesium to help combat yellow and promote a clarified, radiant tone.’
