Ben Foden’s wife blasts Dancing On Ice as ‘pointless and unfair’ after hes first to leave

Ben Foden’s wife Jackie Smith Foden has laid into ITV skating competition Dancing On Ice after her rugby union husband was voted the first to leave in Sunday night’s elimination.

The New York mum-of-one, 37, couldn’t hold back her rage after the sportsman’s unexpectedly premature exit from the reality show, and she wrote a scathing rant on her Instagram.

The star, who shares one year old daughter Farrah with Ben, was particularly frustrated as she claimed the show appeared to be merely a “popularity competition” rather than one based on skating talent alone.

She also shared her wishes to get back to America as soon as possible after uprooting her life to move to the UK so she could support husband Ben, 36, during the competition.

After dedicating a gushing tribute to her husband and telling him she was “so proud” of his efforts on the show, blonde beauty Jackie aired her frustrations over the format.

"What's the point of saying it's a skate competition when it's really just a popularity competition?” she asked her followers in a lengthy statement on her stories.

"Why divide the skaters into two weeks, groups of your choosing, and why not judge all their scores together after the two weeks?

"What's the point of getting a bunch of people together and then not judging them together afterwards?" the star continued, going on to question why there was even a judging panel at all when “it’s all down to a public vote”.

"That's not a skate competition, it's a popularity competition. What's the point of anyone doing this really practicing and trying to learn if you're just going to be judged on your popularity?” Jackie ranted.

"It's a bit unfair, and we're a bit sad, the worst skater wasn't the first to go, I don't really see the point."

The rugby star’s wife acknowledged that Dancing On Ice incorporates a public vote in order to ensure they make enough money to keep the show going, but she insisted there could be another way.

“Maybe leave the public vote for the save me skate offs or something?” Jackie queried. "Otherwise it's just kind of pointless to even try."

After getting her disappointment off her chest, Jackie joked that she could see straight away her husband didn’t stand a chance against dancer Regan Gascoigne, whose balletic performance “blew” her “socks off” as she watched from the Bovingdon studio audience.

Jackie finished off her message by admitting to her followers that she’s eagerly looking forward to getting back home to New York soon.

“Had my fair share of England for a while, time to get back to the real world and get our lives back. Thanks all for the support and love!!” the star added.
