Billy Bob Thornton Reveals He & Angelina Jolie Still Talk: ‘We Keep Up With Each Other’
Billy Bob Thornton and Angelina Jolie are keepin’ it close — even though the platonic friendship they have now is certainly light years away from the, um, unique relationship they used to have!
The Bad Santa star was previously married to Jolie, of course, having tied the knot with her in 2000. But the couple’s eccentric relationship came to an end in the summer of 2002, and they officially divorced nearly a full year later. Except come to find out that still to this day, they’re apparently on speaking terms and actually have a very solid relationship!
Speaking to Us Weekly about their unique connection, the 64-year-old Thornton revealed more on Friday afternoon at the Tribeca TV Festival, saying (below):
“We’re good friends. We’ve been friends for years and years and years. So we keep up with each other. She’s not in town a lot, so we don’t see each other much, but we talk.”
Awww… nice!
Of course, Billy Bob and the 44-year-old Jolie were legendary when they were together, for what was seen at the time as a very eccentric relationship. As you’ll no doubt recall, the pair shared vials of blood worn in necklace form as they were far apart working for large parts of their relationship.
As you might recall, the Friday Night Lights star didn’t end up being a huge fan of that, and at one point told THR about his memories of those necklaces (below):
“It was a crazy time. I’ve never been fond of it … We were apart a lot because she’s off making Tomb Raider and I’m making Monster’s Ball. She thought it would be interesting and romantic if we took a little razorblade and sliced our fingers, smeared a little blood on these lockets and you wear it around your neck just like you wear your son or daughter’s baby hair in one. Same thing. From that, we were wearing quart jars of blood around our necks. And we were vampires and we lived in a dungeon.”
LOLz!!!
That whole thing may not have worked out, but it’s a relief to see these two stars still have each other’s backs! Consider it a double relief ever since Angelina has been going through some hard times recently, too, after splitting from Brad Pitt!
Here’s to keepin’ it classy and NOT totally ruining your relationship with your ex. Easier said than done, of course…
