Dancing On Ice professional skater Matt Evers has recounted the ordeal he went through while in isolation due to coronavirus restrictions. The 43-year-old took to his Twitter profile to criticise the Government over the ongoing controversy surrounding reports that Covid rules were broken at an unofficial gathering on December 18, 2020.

Matt retweeted a link to a news story about Number 10 staff joking about holding a Christmas party.

In view of his 113,000 followers, he wrote: “I’m done now.

“I’ve never spoken of this.

“Last Christmas I had a nervous breakdown.

“Unable to return home, I as the rest of my cast, were all in single isolation and it was literal hell.

“Knowing that the government had ‘meetings’ (parties) is a f****** joke. A f****** joke.”

Fans of the star inundated him with words of encouragement as they sided with him.

sydlington typed: “Please know you did the right thing and your actions, difficult though they were, may have saved lives.

“They absolutely did the wrong thing and it may have cost lives.

“It feels important to remember that – you did the right thing.”

MichaelaImbert added: “Your actions will have saved others from COVID but unfortunately the government are not leading by example.

“I am an NHS Microbiologist and I am concerned that people will no longer follow the science because they cannot trust the government.

“I hope that you are okay now.”

JuttaPayton66 said: “I’m totally with you.

“My very active daughter with Down Syndrome suffered greatly during the pandemic and needed counselling because she had to shield.

“Seeing politicians behaving in such a disrespectful and hypocritical way makes my blood boil.

Matt Evers has competed in every series of Dancing on Ice.

He is currently Coronation Street’s Sally Dynevor’s skate partner.
