Eamonn Holmes threatens to sue as he’s branded ‘racist’ towards Meghan Markle

Eamonn Holmes has threatened to sue a critic who branded him 'racist' over his comments on Meghan Markle .

On Tuesday's This Morning a segment entitled: 'Is Meghan being unfairly criticised?' ran, in which Eamonn suggested the Duchess had an "uppy attitude" and should be more forthcoming considering she's "taking from the public purse".

And his comments didn't go down well with some Meghan supporters, with one even taking to social media to express their fury.

"Working from home so getting to see the inherent racism of the British media as personified by @EamonnHolmes & @RuthieeL who are currently unashamedly bashing Meghan Markle live on @thismorning ," they wrote.

However, Eamonn wasn't having any of it, as he snapped back: "What a stupid bigoted a*se you are .

"U r typical of the sort who only want your questions asked. Our job us to ask questions. That's what we did and we diditvery well (sic).

"Call me racist again and I will sue your bigoted stupid a*se off you."

"As usual Eamonn speaking sense and keeping it real," one supporter wrote in response to his furious rant.

While Channel 5's India Willoughby chipped in: "It’s ridiculous Eamonn. Had it all week. Any criticism of Meghan – racist."

"The very idea we have to defend ourselves…." a clearly reeling Eamonn responded to the news reader.

"The public initially loved Megan …. and Harry is sooo popular. Don't shoot the messenger over such own goals.

"This all could so easily be turned around. They could do worse than consult a few Media people like ourselves India."

The row begun after Eamonn attempted to play devil's advocate while speaking to Canadian reporter Lainey Lui – who has met Meghan and was on the show to defend her.

"I don’t know why she’s taking the lion share, whether or not it’s valid criticism, and why it’s landing on her," Lainey said via video chat.

"You do know why it’s landing on her," Eamonn replied. "If you have an uppity attitude you’re only through the door two minutes and suddenly you’re sitting at Wimbledon and you’re royal protection are saying ‘no photographs, no photographs!’.

"You do know as a reporter you would be the first if that was somebody in Canada you would be writing ‘they’re right up their own backside’."

Eamonn's comments weren't the only ones to ruffle feathers, as Ruth chipped in and criticised Meghan and Harry for keeping Prince Archie's godparents a secret, and banning the press from his christening.

However, Lainey wasn't the only one to defend the former Suits actress, as historian, Professor Kate Williams branded her a "fresh breath of air," and conceded that she'd had criticism unfairly heaped on her since marrying Prince Harry .
