Giovanni Pernice, 30, has been a part of popular BBC dance show Strictly Come Dancing since 2015 when he reached the final with Georgia May Foote. Over the years he has become a staple on the series with Giovanni having since admitted he would “love” to be partnered with a man on the series.

On the 2020 series of the show, Giovanni was partnered with Good Morning Britain star Ranvir Singh.

Together they made the semi-final of the competition but later missed a spot in the final to Maisie Smith, Jamie Laing, HRVY and Bill Bailey who made the show’s final four.

It seems Giovanni is now up for being a part of a same-sex couple as he spoke of wanting to be paired with a man on the series.

Giovanni would follow in the footsteps of fellow Strictly pro Katya Jones who was partnered with former boxing star Nicola Adams on the show last year.

Katya and Nicola made Strictly history as the first same-sex couple on the show although after Katya tested positive for coronavirus, the couple were forced to leave in week four of the series.

During an interview with The Mirror, Giovanni said: “It’s not down to me, but if the production people come to me and said ‘listen Giovanni we’d love you to be partnered with a man’ I’d say ‘yes’.

“I am more than ready to be partnered with a man.

“It would give me a chance to challenge myself with new routines, you have to think more about it. I love challenging myself.”

The dancer’s comment comes as he and GMB star Ranvir Singh faced romance rumours because of their close partnership on the series.

Giovanni has since denied any romance between him and Ranvir as he revealed he is currently single while chatting to Entertainment Daily.

He said: “Every year there’s always a romance rumour with a different partner.

I mean, even if you don’t have a partner there’s a rumour. The thing is you get very close when you dance with another person, but dancing is equal to acting.

“You have to deliver a performance. Each dance is a different story.”

Addressing his relationship with Ranvir, he continued: “No, no, no no no. I’m single, absolutely there’s no way [I would date Ranvir]. We are very very good friends.”

After their departure from the series, Giovanni shared a sweet tribute to how far Ranvir had come on the show.

In a post to his 434,000 followers on Instagram, he wrote: “@ranvirtv THANK YOU for trusting me and make this experience magical with your improvement! It has been a wonderful journey!

“We are saying goodbye with a massive achievement.. semifinalist!!! You can walk away with the best ballroom frame that the show has ever had #fact!”

He continued: “But the biggest THANK YOU goes to all of you that have been supporting and voting for us every week!!
