‘Grey’s Anatomy’s Camilla Luddington Clears Up Debate About Cast Wearing KN95 Masks Behind The Scenes

Camilla Luddington is setting the record straight on the masks that she and her co-stars are wearing on the new season of Grey’s Anatomy.

After getting back to work on the show in September, and the premiere happening just last week, one viewer pointed out that the cast were seen wearing KN95 masks and that they didn’t need to be “wasting” them when they could be donated to real life healthcare professionals.

“If you see any of us wearing KN95s behind the scenes it’s because we are wearing our costume masks. We don’t also get an extra KN95 to wear between takes,” Camilla pointed out.

Major fans of the show will remember that Grey’s was one of the first to donate all the supplies they had to first responders when the pandemic first wave took over.

“Shonda [Rhimes] sort of handed over all of our masks and hospital gowns — everything we had,” Kim Raver shared in March about how the pandemic impacted the show and how they gave back. “I was in New York doing Third Watch on 9/11, and [the producers] did the same thing, donating lights and anything else that they could use at Ground Zero. In these moments, I really believe that the good comes out [in people].”
