63-year-old tenor Andrea Bocelli has three children, but it’s his 24-year-old son Matteo that has him the most concerned. His daughter Virginia, on the other hand, is just nine-years-old and considers performance to be merely a “game”.

“Virginia loves music, she likes to sing and is studying the piano,” he revealed to PA news agency.
“However at the moment her involvement in the limelight alongside her dad is a game and little more, as it should be.”
He continued: “Matteo, on the other hand, is embarking on a career as an artist.
“Despite the fact that I warned him about the difficulties he would encounter, he is sure of the choice that he has undertaken independently and that he is cultivating with passion, determination and promising results.”
Matteo is currently studying music at the Lucca Conservatory in the city of Brescia, northern Italy.
The ambitious Italian has also taken to the stage alongside his dad for shows in locations like Johannesburg and Cape Town, South Africa.
Despite his father’s concerns, Matteo is determined.
Speaking of his childhood to Upscale Living Magazine, he revealed: “I have many memories related to music, because, as you can imagine, it accompanied me from morning to night.
“I started studying piano at the age of seven on the advice of my father and from that moment, I never abandoned it.”
He has also credited his father with being his trusted “tutor” as he begins to navigate the industry.
His father tested his son’s singing abilities when he debuted on the stage in 2016 aged just 19, by deciding on a song for the pair to sing together that Matteo “hadn’t prepared” – in front of 12,000 spectators.
However, the challenge did not deter him and Andrea revealed that he was pleased with his son’s progress.

He added: “The success he’s achieving with his first single Solo bodes well.”
The Tenor has experienced frustrating setbacks recently, including a bout of coronavirus in 2020 that caused him to lose his voice completely, along with his sense of taste and smell.
He explained: “I wasn’t afraid but I felt a lot of frustration and sadness, thinking about the suffering of so many less fortunate people, about the pain of those who have lost loved ones, without even being able to be there without even being able to be there with them.”
He added that the virus had spread through “most” of his family as well, but asymptomatically.
Just weeks after recovery, Andrea performed inside the totally empty Duomo cathedral in Milan in honour of Easter Sunday.
Describing the experience as “hugely moving”, he explained: “I believe that is yet another demonstration that people are increasingly hungry for beauty and spirituality, that they need to begin again from higher values and to dialog with one’s own soul.
“I chose to be in Milan, during the most acute period of the first lockdown and on Easter day, to pray together, at a painful time, and reaffirm the life-saving power of the Christian message.
“It was hugely moving to feel so much unity and fellowship in the forced separation. It was truly an unforgettable experience.”
His Believe In Christmas – Encore concert, recorded at the Teatro Regio Di Parma, will stream globally between December 10th and 12th, with a portion of proceeds going to The Andrea Bocelli Foundation.
