Ice-T's Fitness Routine Includes Intermittent Fasting and Resistance Training
We all want to become the best version of ourselves. Whether the goal is to build muscle, lose weight, or have a better relationship with food, we are continuously inspired by the celebs who share their routines. At 64 years old, Tracy Lauren Marrow, aka Ice-T, stays fit by intermittent fasting and training with resistance bands every day. Here’s how you can be healthy like the iconic rapper.
What Ice-T eats and his intermittent fasting routine
The rapper-turned-songwriter, actor, and producer believes in being satiated, as opposed to having a full stomach. So, after taking a bite or two of food, Ice-T pushes his plate away and saves the rest for later. He says, “I’ve learned it’s better to stay hungry than to always get full.”
Ice-T receives compliments about his deceivingly younger-looking physique. He admits that looking young, healthy, and energetic takes an effort. He says, “I’m one of the older hip-hop cats,” he told Men’s Health. “I just turned 64. People are like, ‘Wow, you don’t look 64 all the time,’ and I tell them, ‘That’s because I take care of myself.”
He adds, “I’ve seen some of my friends pass away in their forties from just neglect. It’s a wake-up call now, as men — especially black men — we don’t go to the doctor until something’s wrong. I want guys to know it’s OK to look out for your health, care about your family, and care about your loved ones.”
How to work out like Ice-T
When it comes to working out, Ice-T told GQ that he believes doing anything is better than nothing at all. Every day, he sets aside about 10-15 minutes and works out in his small gym in his home. Here are the exercises Ice-T repeats daily using his body weight and also incorporating resistance bands.
- 100 bicep curls while standing up
- 10 pull-ups
- 25 dips
- 25 to 50 bench presses
Although resistance bands have less impact on the body than weightlifting, they are an advantage for older people. The bands don’t put too much strain on the body. As a result, they reduce the chances of injuring your bones and muscles when working out.
Regardless, it’s best to consult your doctor if you’re concerned about hurting your body while working out.
