Is It Even Legal for Kate Middleton to Look This Good While Sailing?

Kate Middleton is good at many things. She has that whole curtsy thing down pat, she’s really great at running after her kids alongside polo matches, and she can wear a tiara like nobody’s business. But as of today, she can officially add one more thing to her long list of strengths: looking really f*cking good while sailing a boat.

Today, she and that guy she’s married to competed against each other in a royal regatta benefitting their charity. Kate was on one boat while Will was on the other. And sure, Kate’s team was disqualified, but it’s fair to say she won the regatta that is life, because this is what she looked like while doing it.

Like…is that real? Let’s do a quick breakdown: Hair? Perfect. Smile? Candid. Outfit? The ideal mix of sport and style.

This whole ensemble is impressive for a variety of reasons. I have been on a sailboat more than once, and I can say for a fact that NO ONE else looks like this in this same situation. First, when you go sailing, you are exposed to all the elements. It could rain! It could be 100 degrees! It could be super, super windy (which is basically the entire point of sailing)!

Kate obviously planned for this, because her hair is perfectly curled BUT back in a ponytail and protected by a baseball hat. She’s pulling off that hat the way we all wish we could pull off the one we stole from that guy we had a one-night stand with a few years back. She’s giving a master class.

The hair in all its glory:

The ’fit itself is simple, sure, but it has to be. Sailing is an athletic activity, not a fashion show. You’ve gotta be ready to get damp at a moment’s notice and you also have to wear a life jacket. That’s the catch. But Kate is working it.

Please note that she did not leave that big-ass engagement ring at home. That’s a bold move considering she’s on a body of water and it could potentially fall off, never to be seen again. For that, we have no choice but to stan.

Congrats to Kate on tackling yet another impossible-to-dress-for situation. The world thanks you for your service/inspiration.
