James 'Arg' Argent celebrated the success of his life-changing gastric band operation with a fun-filled boys' trip to sunny Brighton.

The former TOWIE star looked well on the road to recovery as he smiled for an Instagram snap while standing alongside his three friends – including Jade Goody's widow Jack Tweed.

With his recent surgery giving him renewed hope for his future, the 33-year-old, whose weight rose to nearly 27 stone during lockdown, vowed he "won't fall back down again".

A source told The Sun: "Years ago James would have been caning it during a weekend away in Brighton. But that's in the past.

Just a week earlier, reality star James shared a picture from the hospital ward as he opened up about the importance of his gastric sleeve surgery.

He wrote in the caption: "Today Is the First Day of the Rest of My Life. My weight loss journey has STARTED.

"I've had my gastric sleeve surgery with the incredible team at @wearetransform. I've struggled with my weight for years but I'm finally ready both physically & mentally to do something about it."

Surgeons removed some of James' stomach before installing his gastric sleeve during the £10,000 procedure in Birmingham.

The Essex native has been advised not to do any strenuous exercise or eat solid food for six weeks to allow his scars to heal fully.

Updating his social media followers about his recovery, James came clean about the side effects following the surgery, including vomiting blood and trapped gas.
