Kimberley Walsh may have been 1/5th of one of the biggest girlbands alongside Cheryl Cole, Nicola Roberts, Sarah Harding and Nadine Coyle in Girls Aloud, but she's no longer interested in pop music.

"I wouldn’t be interested in doing anything pop related," she told OK! "Maybe another musical album would be fun."

Kimberley is currently in the middle of performances of Sleepless: A Musical Romance alongside fellow West End star and The Wanted singer Jay McGuiness.

The 38-year-old is bursting with pride that the show is one of the first to be back on stage amid the coronavirus pandemic, but says they’re taking no chances and she’s “tested every day” for the virus.

"We’re the first fully staged musical [back on since lockdown], definitely in England and a lot of other countries as well.

"It’s going to be one of those weird things that goes down in history to add to the CV. People have been really happy to be out watching a show again and they feel really safe because of all the measures our producers have put in place. They’ve done so much so people can come back to the theatre and enjoy it again. "

Away from her successful theatre career, Kimberley, 38, is mum to sons Bobby, six, and four-year-old Cole with her husband Justin Scott, 38, and gushes in our interview about their close relationship and how they make it work when she is busy performing.

"Now I’m working, he’s holding the fort so we’re very much working as a team at the moment. It’s working for us and that’s how it is in relationships and marriages now – you have to be there for each other."

"He’s amazing, he really is. I know that I can leave the kids with him and he would do everything that I would do and I don’t have to think about it. They also love being with him."

She continued, "We share everything, so it’s nice for the kids because they feel like they’ve got two parents that are fully engaged in everything they’re doing. They’re both very lucky.

The couple haven't ruled out expanding their family with Kimberley telling us, "I can never say never with that, because they start to grow up and you’re like, “Oh, I don’t have a baby any more!” Then you start to get broody, so who knows?"

Kimberley will be celebrating her 40th birthday in November 2021 and she's feeling content ahead of the milestone.

"I’m actually in a really good place in life, with how I feel and everything’s good. When you are like that you don’t fear those milestones as much. I liked my thirties as well; there’s no point being miserable about it."
