Kodak Black pleads not guilty to federal weapons charges

Rapper Kodak Black, 21, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to federal weapons charges appearing before US Magistrate Judge Edwin Torres, Billboard reported.

The raper was arrested Saturday at the Rolling Loud festival at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla. Torres released the controversial artist on a $550,000 bond and ordered him under house arrest.

Black’s lawyer Bradford Cohen said he owns a $600,000 house in Florida that will be used as collateral for the bond, Billboard reported.

“Kodak’s charges that are now unsealed are essentially 2 counts of fraudulent statements on a governmental document,” Cohen wrote on Twitter.

Lil Wayne was also set to perform at Rolling Loud and said on social media that he refused to get on stage after being subjected to a search by security personnel or police.

“I do not and will not ever settle for being policed to do my job,” Lil Wayne wrote on Twitter.

Black’s tour bus had previously been raided by the FBI outside of a Washington, DC, venue where he was performing.

He was arrested in April on drug and weapons charges while crossing the border from Canada into the US and has been charged with various crimes in Florida including drug and weapons possession, armed robbery, sexual assault, probation violations and fleeing from officers.

Kodak Black, whose current name is Bill Kapri and who was born as Dieuson Octave to Haitian American parents in Florida, also caused controversy recently when he commented on Instagram Live about actress Lauren London, Nipsey Hussle’s longtime girlfriend, the Miami New Times reported.

“I’ll give her a whole year [to mourn],” Black said at the time. “She might need a whole year to be crying and shit for him.”
