Strictly Come Dancing 2021 judge Motsi Mabuse, 40, has thanked fans for their support after some viewers of the BBC show claimed she was “fuming” when Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice were crowned the winners at the weekend over John Whaite and Johannes Radebe. The dance expert took to Twitter to address #teammotsi yesterday after she hit back at the rumours on Sunday.

Motsi shared a video from one of her fans which had been recorded while the Strictly 2021 final aired.

In the clip, Motsi told Rose, who made history as Strictly’s first ever deaf contestant, “I love you,” in sign language.

The fan had captioned the video from the show: “@motsimabuse looked absolutely STUNNING!”

Replying to the sweet message amid the criticism that had been aimed at her, Motsi penned in view of her 68,000 followers: “#teammotsi I see you all still fighting the fight !

“lets have a merry Christmas and celebrate our reunion!!!”

Motsi went on to urge fans to tune into the Strictly Christmas special, while advising them to not be “drawn into” negative claims surrounding her reaction to Rose and Giovanni’s win.

She added: “Don’t miss the Christmas show !

“Don’t be drawn into it #loveandlight.”

Fans took to the comments section of Motsi’s post to give her their support following the reports.

Caz A wrote: “Oh for goodness sake, are people fixating on a woman’s facial expression again?!

“Ffs, this happens to me often because my smile makes my face look patronising, no idea why, it’s frustrating AF. She was probably trying not to cry and ruin her wonderful makeup!!”

Tracy added: “#teammotsi always, its clear how passionate you are about dance and about your views on both couples in the final and why both were breaking down barriers. Keep being you Motsi.”

Angiefaires commented: “You bring so much joy to the show Motsi. Merry Christmas.”

It comes after social media user, Olive Coyne, wrote: “@MOTSI_MABUSE Did not look happy with results.

“Thank God Judges did not get the vote. Best Couple Ever on @bbcstrictly love you @RoseAylingEllis @pernicegiovann1 Pure Class you both are.”

However, Motsi was quick to hit back at the claims.

She wrote at the weekend: “Even after such an emotional and fantastic final people still will find a way for hate!

“Imagine sitting in the living room and interpreting this? It’s a shame!

“Thank you for all the love and support I received, they override this comment by the thousands.”

Motsi went on to take to Instagram to congratulate Rose and Giovanni on their victory.

Alongside a photo of the EastEnders actress and the Italian professional dancer, Motsi wrote: “Our Winners @rose.a.e & @pernicegiovann1 congratulations! Thank you for giving us everything #strictly.”

Giovanni replied to the sweet message with a series of heart emojis.
