BBC Breakfast presenter, Dan Walker, 44, leads BBC’s morning Olympic coverage with Sam Quek, 32, with laughs along the way. The former has today addressed apparently “not getting the memo” after being seen on screen sat between his co-host and Shanaze Reade in a non-coordinated ensemble, following comments about his attire.

I had my pink jump-suit freshly ironed too

Dan is best known for presenting shows like Football Focus, which he presented from 2009 to 2021.

He has been at BBC Breakfast since 2016 and is currently analysing Olympic highlights with former Team GB Hockey player, Sam.

During the latest instalment, Samantha was seen in an elegant pink jumpsuit, with dark blue stilettos.

When discussing the BMX finals, Shanaze, 32, Olympic Athlete and Track World Champion, joined them on screen.

Wearing almost the same hue as Sam, she wowed in a two-piece pink suit, flattered by a white top.

Dan, on the other hand, was in a black polo, black trainers, and light-coloured chino style trousers.

Viewers were soon tagging him in pictures on Twitter, highlighting how he was in contrast to his female colleagues.

One user told him: “Clearly @mrdanwalker didn’t get the ‘wear pink on Friday’ email.”

He wasted no time in replying in view of his 721,000 followers: “No-one tells me anything.

“I had my pink jump-suit freshly ironed too #OlympicBreakfast.”

Dan then posted another tweet with a screen grab, with just the words: “OLYMPINKS.”

Away from his clothing choices, the broadcaster replies to other users, who have been impressed by his and Sam’s coverage.

A viewer stated: “Brilliant TV by @mrdanwalker and @SamanthaQuek on the BBC, for the #Olympics  give them a regular show @BBC.”

Dan told them “thanks” after another posted: “You two are making this Olympics for me! The best way to start the day. Thank you, and keep up the very good work!”

To which the father-of-three added: “So glad you’re enjoying it. Thanks for watching.”

Dan has been drawing attention recently for non-sporting reasons, due to his rift with former Good Morning Britain host, Piers Morgan.

On Sunday, Piers tweeted saying: “Nobody cares about these covid-ravaged Olympics.”

To which Dan replied on July 28: “You might not care about the #Olympics but this morning proved once again that a lot of people do.

“If you really feel that way then just let the rest of us enjoy it while you watch Home Alone 2 on repeat?”

Dan included a picture of Piers along with the character dubbed pigeon lady in Home Alone 2, due to their supposedly uncanny resemblance.

You can catch BBC Olympic coverage throughout the day with the likes of Gabby Logan, Clare Balding and Alex Scott also presenting.
