Phillip Schofields family in surprising show of support for Holly Willoughby

Phillip Schofield’s This Morning departure addressed by hosts

Molly and Ruby Schofield are still following Holly Willoughby, 42, on Instagram, despite their father Phillip Schofield’s reported falling out with the This Morning host.

It comes after Phillip, 61, who shares his grown-up daughters with estranged wife Stephanie Lowe, sensationally left This Morning over the weekend after he and Holly had been plagued with “rift” rumours.

Despite the drama surrounding Phillip’s exit from the ITV show, his children seem to still be showing support for Holly, as they both continue to follow her on the social media platform.

Both Phillip’s family and Holly’s family know one another well, as they previously went on holidays abroad together before the presenters’ friendship reportedly fell apart.

Phillip announced he would be leaving This Morning with immediate effect in an Instagram story post on Saturday.

The star wrote: “I have always been proud to cover fascinating stories on This Morning. But recently, This Morning itself has become the story.

“Throughout my career in TV – including the very difficult last few days – I have always done my best to be honourable and kind.

“I understand that ITV has decided the current situation can’t go on, and I want to do what I can to protect the show that I love.

“So I have agreed to step down from This Morning with immediate effect, in the hope that the show can move forward to a bright future.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me – especially This Morning’s amazing viewers – and I’ll see you all for the Soap Awards next month.”

Phillip neglected to mention his former co-host and friend, Holly, in the lengthy statement.

However, Holly took to her Instagram stories to pay tribute to Phil directly after he made his announcement.

She said: “It’s been over 13 great years presenting This Morning with Phil and I want to take this opportunity to thank him for all of his knowledge, his experience and his humour.

“The sofa won’t feel the same without him,” the presenter added, alongside a pink love heart emoji.

ITV have confirmed Holly will remain on the show and will co-present with members of the This Morning family.

Prior to his exit, Phillip made a statement addressing the rumours of trouble in his friendship with Holly.

In his statement to The Sun, Phil referred to Holly as his “rock”, while saying that both of them had been going through a “tough” time.

Reports of a fallout came after a source alleged to MailOnline that Holly was upset Phillip hadn’t told her about his brother Timothy’s recent court case.

Years before Holly and Phil’s reporting falling out, the latter came out as gay in 2020 and thanked his family, and his co-host, for all the support they had given him.

Phillip has remained friends with his estranged wife Stephanie since opening up about his sexuality, with the duo still going on family holidays alongside Molly and Ruby.
