R. Kellys Attorney Retorts to Question About His Engagement to Jocelyn Savage

Meanwhile, Jocelyn’s family ‘strongly doubts’ her story that she has gotten engaged to the disgraced singer after she made the claim in a letter to a judge prior to his sentencing.

AceShowbizR. Kelly‘s legal team apparently refuses to address reports of the singer’s engagement to Jocelyn Savage. An attorney for the disgraced singer has shut down an attempt to seek a clarification regarding his relationship with one of his alleged sex slaves.

After news broke about R. Kelly’s engagement to Jocelyn, EW reached out to his attorney with a question about the matter. However, the attorney retorted as telling the site, “Don’t you have something more important to f**king report on?”

Meanwhile, Jocelyn’s family doesn’t buy her claim that she has gotten engaged to R. Kelly. Gerald Griggs, who represents Jocelyn’s parents, tells TMZ that her family “strongly doubts” the engagement story. The attorney says Jocelyn never made the engagement known to the family and they’ve never spoken about the possibility beforehand.

The attorney additionally finds it suspicious that Jocelyn didn’t testify about it under oath and instead slipped the news into a letter submitted to the court. He adds that Jocelyn’s family wishes to reconnect with her to get the full story, noting that she hasn’t really spoken to her family since she left to be with the convicted sex offender.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Jocelyn wrote a letter to a judge asking for leniency prior to his sentencing. In the letter, she detailed her relationship with the disgraced musician, calling herself R. Kelly’s fiancee. “I’m not the victim that the government has portrayed me to be,” she told the judge.

She described her relationship with the 55-year-old, whose real name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, as “amazing.” She gushed about the “I Believe I Can Fly” crooner, “He’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me. We have a very special connection and are deeply in love. I still support Robert to this day because I love him and will always be here to support him.”

The 26-year-old continued, “Robert is not the monster that the government has described him to be. The Robert I know is very sweet, gentle, and kind. At the end of the day, he has always made sure that I’m taken care of, and any other women he was with as well.”

“Robert and I are deeply in love and it breaks my heart that the government has created a narrative that I’m a victim. I’m a grown woman, and can speak for myself,” Joycelyn further argued. Toward the end of her letter, she stated, “He is a great man, with a great heart and deserves to be home with his loved ones who are ready to support him.”

R. Kelly was eventually sentenced to 30 years in jail on June 29 for masterminding a scheme to entice and sexually exploit young aspiring singers and underage children.
