‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Alum Widow Von’Du Released on Bond After Domestic Violence Arrest

The drag queen, whose legal name is Ray Fry, argues during her arrest that she was ‘defending [herself]’ after being ‘assaulted’ by her own boyfriend in her apartment.

AceShowbiz -Former “RuPaul’s Drag Race” contestant Widow Von’Du has finally got her freedom back. The drag performer, who was arrested for alleged domestic violence involving her boyfriend, reportedly has been released from jail after posting a $5,000 of her $50,000 bond.

The 32-year-old was arrested by the Kansas City Police Department on Monday, May 31. She was booked into the Jackson County jail on three counts of domestic assault and one count of attempted domestic assault, all felonies.

According to the probable cause affidavit obtained by TMZ, Von’Du came home early Friday morning in an intoxicated state. She was said to have been upset when she saw her beau sleeping at her place although he claimed to have notified her beforehand.

The unnamed boyfriend further told cops that Von’Du punched his face four to five times, strangled him and dragged him across the floor before pushing him into a bed frame rendering him unconscious. The alleged victim then left the place and went to the hospital where he got 14 stitches in his face and head.

A video of Von’Du’s arrest has since surfaced on social media. In the leaked footage, she could be heard telling the police, “You’re taking me down because I was assaulted in my own apartment as someone else would not understand that his privilege does not extend to my apartment.”

“As a Black man, I’m being arrested for defending myself in my apartment,” she continued. “And just because his ass got beat up because he would not leave when I asked five times, I’m being arrested… instead of someone being arrested for violating me.”

While he’s now not out of prison, Von’Du is scheduled to make a court appearance on June 7. In the meantime, she is on house arrest. She is also forbidden to possess or to be in the presence of firearms and to contact the alleged victim or witnesses, according to court documents.
