Ruth Langsford is the first to get her hair done as hairdressers finally open

Ruth Langsford made the most of hairdressers finally being allowed to open after lockdown and made sure she was one of the first to get her roots touched up.

It’s safe to say, the coronavirus pandemic has taken its toll on the grooming rituals of the nation, with many turning to home haircuts and dye jobs while all salons were forced to close.

Ruth, 60, was spotted leaving Leo Bancroft hairdressers in Weybridge on Saturday morning as hair salons were finally allowed to reopen on 4 July.

The This Morning presenter was among the first to get in the chair to have her roots touched up after revealing she had been doing them herself at home since March.

Fans had suspected that Ruth was secretly getting her hair done amid the lockdown because she never looked anything less than polished on camera – but she shared her secrets for disguising them.

She said on Instagram: ‘A few people have been saying, “Oh Ruth, have you secretly been having your roots done?”

‘Eh, no! Look at them… look how dark. If I have been having my roots done by a hairdresser, I would be asking for my money back!

‘So I absolutely haven’t, I had them done just before lockdown, fortunately. But the dark hairs are coming through a lot.’

As she hit her salon on Super Saturday, Ruth shared a video from her appointment, telling her followers: ‘Morning, yes I’m finally here!

‘Look I’m the only one here at the moment, this is one of the rooms upstairs. All socially distanced, I’ve got my mask, getting these roots done finally, look how dark those are!

‘I can’t wait, I’ve got my own coffee, we’re all set, I’ve got my mask – here we go! See you later.’

Ruth added in the caption: ‘EXCITING DAY!….back at @leobancroftsalon to get my blonde on with @steffmiller83Well done @leobancroft Kirsty & all the staff for creating such a clean, safe environment….it’s great to have you back!!’

Ruth then gave her followers another update when she arrived home with her fresh highlights and trim, after revealing she wanted to keep her hair longer but had to have her split ends chopped.

She thanked the salon staff for looking after her and wished all of the other hairdressers opening today luck with their busy times ahead.

While hair salons are allowed to reopen, other beauty services have been told to remain closed for the time being, including nail salons.
