Former Strictly Come Dancing professional Janette Manrara, 37, has taken to Instagram to celebrate the popular BBC dance show being nominated for a National Television Award after a “horrible year”. The star celebrated the programme appearing in the Talent Show category as she admitted how difficult that past year had been being separated from her “loved ones” amid the show’s Covid precautions.

In view of her 442,000 followers, the star celebrated the amazing news.

She wrote: “WE’VE BEEN NOMINATED! ‘Best Talent Show’ at the @officialntas!

“In the midst of the horrible year we had in 2020, @bbcstrictly brought escapism and joy into our homes.

“The entire team worked tirelessly w/ so many Covid restrictions to make this show possible!” she added.

Janette confessed that making the show during the coronavirus pandemic was anything but easy and saw her separate from her husband Aljaz Skorjanec as they competed on the show.

“Being separated from loved ones for long periods of time, Covid test after Covid test, more antibacterial products and hand sanitizers than you can ever imagine, and all to remind us that ‘the show must go on!'” she continued.

The star ended the post by imploring her followers to vote for the show.

She added: “PLEASE make sure that you vote for us! I could not be prouder of the entire #StrictlyFamily.”

The star added a short clip of Strictly winners Oti Mabuse and Bill Bailey dancing in matching suits and hats.

The video had been edited so that when the duo raised their arms, placards had been added that read “vote Strictly at the NTAs”.

The popular dance show appears in the Talent Show category alongside The Masked Singer, RuPaul’s Drag Race UK and Britain’s Got Talent.

Earlier in the year Janette confirmed that she would not be in the running to win the coveted glitterball trophy this year as she confirmed her exit from the show.

Appearing on The One Show, the American dancer revealed that she was leaving the show as a pro dancer to instead join its spin-off show It Takes Two.

The news comes as host Zoe Ball confirmed that she was leaving the show after a decade.

Janette is set to present alongside Rylan Cark-Neal when the dance programme returns to screens next month.

Recently, the star confirmed that she has ruled out ever returning to the Strictly dance floor.

Speaking with Made In Chelsea stars Jamie Laing and Alex Mytton on the former’s Private Parts podcast, Janette explained that the door was firmly shut for her return.

Speaking candidly about her decision to leave, Jamie asked if she could go back to the show.

However, the star revealed that she had drawn a hard line under her years as a Strictly professional and wouldn’t be turning back.

She admitted: “No, I feel like that once you’re out, you’re out.”
