Tamzin Outhwaite talks 20-year age gap romance and reveals secret to its success

Tamzin Outhwaite addressed the 20-year age gap between herself and her boyfriend Tom Child as she discussed her relationship in a new interview.

The 51 year old doesn’t find the age gap an issue and said she isn’t bothered by others who do, as she revealed the secret to her successful romance.

Tamzin and Tom, 31, started dating after they met at a yoga treat in 2017 and she admitted she feels “sexier” with him, following her past relationship with her ex husband Tom Ellis.

The actress spoke out in defence of her romance, as she said: “I get the odd strange comment, saying, ‘You look old enough to be his mother.’ Which makes me want to say, ‘Well, I am old enough to be his mother, but I’m not!’

“The age gap is not a thing in our relationship any more. We use it as comedy to make people laugh but we never have to discuss it," she told The Sun.

Tamzin also shared the key secrets to her relationship’s success, adding: “I find exercising or walking around the house in your underwear gives you more motivation to keep looking after yourself, especially when it’s just Tom in the house.”

The former EastEnders star opened up about constantly battling with her hormones in her marriage to ex Tom, with whom she shares two children, and confessed she “wasn't the best version of herself”, as spoke on The Mid-Point Podcast.

Tamzin told host Gabby Logan: “I feel like there was always some hormonal imbalance going on, with childbirth, or miscarriage or whatever and not going full term with babies.

“So I feel like I was either pregnant, trying to get pregnant, just post-pregnancy for a lot of that marriage. So I wouldn't say that I was the best version of myself.”

The pair divorced in 2014 after Tom was accused of being unfaithful.

Though she would be content being alone, Tamzin admitted that she is “comfortable and really happy'’ in her relationship with her new man.

She continued: “I really have never felt sexier, and I think that's because [Tom] really gets that about me, that I'm in a stage in my life where I'm really comfortable and I'm really happy. And I adore him, we have a wonderful time.

“But if he wasn't around, I wouldn't be in the corner, on the floor, sliding down walls, crying. I would still have my complete life and he just enhances that, and that's what's lovely.”
