Improve your skin and health as you reap the benefits of collagen supplements

THE protein collagen makes up 90 per cent of organic bone mass, 90 per cent of connective tissue and 70 per cent of skin.

I try out collagen powder supplements, while The Sun Beauty Editor puts night creams to the test.

BUDGET

  • NIVEA Q10 Energy Recharging Night Cream, £12.99, 50ml, boots.com – buy now

An energising night cream to revive dull skin and combat early signs of ageing.

It combines three antioxidants – Q10, vitamin C and vitamin E – to help reduce fine lines.

It also contains SPF15 to protect against sun damage. I found it a little heavy for my oily skin.

It has a lovely fruity fragrance and it did improve the skin’s appearance first thing in the morning after use, but it might be better for dryer skin types.

MID

  • Ren Clean Skincare, Overnight Glow Dark Spot Sleeping Cream, £49, 50ml, renskincare.com – buy now

Night cream formulated with 94 per cent natural ingredients. Encapsulated algae and phytoglycogen target dark spots and pigmentation to brighten and hydrate skin.

This has a light, gel-like texture and absorbs well but still feels like a nourishing cream.

It made a huge difference to areas of pigmentation and my skin was noticeably brighter and more radiant.

I use this regularly now, along with the vitamin-C day cream for an extra glow.

LUXURY

  • Elemis, Pro-Collagen Overnight Matrix, £148, 50ml, uk.elemis.com – buy now

Somewhere between a balm and a cream, this targets deep-set wrinkles and fine lines.

Padina pavonica, a brown algae, boosts hydration and encourages plumpnesss.

My skin looked bright, plump and felt brand-new in the morning after using it.

Pricey but one of the best on the market. Also available in 15ml for £51.10.
