Inside family-of-22 the Radfords' Scottish caravan holiday with messy ice creams, cramped car and a packing disaster

BRITAIN’S biggest family The Radford’s have headed to Scotland for a family trip, after their ‘holiday of a lifetime’ to Australia was cancelled.

Sue, 45, and Noel, 49, are Britain's biggest family with the mum welcoming their 22nd child, Heidie, in April.

The supersized family had planned a four-week stay Down Under, but had to change their plans due to coronavirus.

Instead the Radford’s, who live in Morecambe, Lancs, headed to Scotland instead, on their first holiday of the year.

The family are staying at a caravan park in Edinburgh, meeting up with another large family, the Walker’s, who have nine children.

Sue shared snaps from their trip after they visited the Kelpies, giant horse head sculptures, in Falkirk.

She wrote on Instagram: “We’ve had such a busy day today with @walkerfamily11 we went to see the Kelpies.

“What a beautiful place to visit.”

Sue also shared snaps of her kids' faces covered in ice cream as they enjoyed the good weather.

Sue explained in a video last week that the family were getting ready to head north.

Chatting in a YouTube video, she said: “Today we're going away for the week.

"We're staying with our friends in their caravan, they have some caravans at a site in Edinburgh, so we're staying there until Monday – and then going to another caravan site with them for the rest of the week.

"We're hoping to leave the house for 2.30, 3pm at the latest, so we'll have to see how that pans out. But it's lovely outside today, the sun is shining.”

She revealed that packing for so many children was “crazy”, as she desperately tried to round everyone up.

Sue added: “We're just getting ready to leave for Scotland. It's been crazy, crazy busy trying to get everybody sorted and in the car."

She finally got everybody dressed, packed and in the car, as Katie, 17, filmed the long journey.

Sue said: “We're now on the road, finally. I can't even tell you how stressful that was, getting everyone in the car.

"It was very, very, very stressful getting everyone in. But we did it! We've got about two hours and a bit of a drive now."

They had a setback as dad Noel was forced to turn around after leaving his laptop and drone at home, meaning he wouldn’t be able to upload any vlogs.

Sue got a call from 18-year-old Millie, who stayed behind, who’s expecting her first child, Ophelia, in September.

The mum said: “So, we have had a disaster. We're sat in the service station.

"About an hour away from home, Millie phoned Noel and said 'you've left your laptop and your drone at home'.

"Noel was like 'do I leave the laptop or go back for it? Because it's going to take me two hours'.

"But obviously if he didn't bring the laptop, we wouldn't be able to upload any vlogs. So he's gone back for it. What an absolute disaster.

"It was all there. I said to Noel 'have you got the laptop and everything?' and he said 'yep'.

"But he obviously left it on the side, went out to the car to sort the kids out and everything, and forgot it.

"He's been very busy today because we've had the film crew at home, so it's all been a bit crazy. Great start to the holiday!

"So we're just sitting in the service station, waiting for Noel to get back. I don't think we're going to get there until 8pm, 8.30. Not good.

"But actually, on the plus side, I forgot to bring the projector so he's going to pick that up too. We're going to have a movie night outside the caravan."

They soon got back on track, and shared clips of the kids having fun at the caravan park once they finally arrived.

Sue revealed she’s been struggling to get a refund on their long-haul trip to Australia, and revealed it could still be several weeks before she gets her money back.

The enormous family were planning to fly to Brisbane, before taking a road trip down to Sydney, stopping off at different places for a week at a time.

Speaking on YouTube in December, dad Noel said: "We’ve booked our holiday of a lifetime."

Despite their huge brood, the Radfords are determined their kids should have a normal upbringing – and they normally go abroad every year.

In 2019, the family went to both Florida and Holland – with mum Sue admitting it's a "military operation" in a previous interview with Fabulous.

She said: The packing process is hard work, but if I put each child’s clothes into a bin bag and label whose it is, it makes it a lot easier when we get there.

"Then I can get the bags out and put them away, rather than rooting through, trying to figure out whose is whose.

"Normally we take about seven suitcases with us."

The Radfords are Britain's biggest family, with Noel and Sue parents to Chris, 30, Sophie, 26, Chloe, 24, Jack, 22, Daniel, 20, Luke, 19, Millie, 18, Katie, 17, James, 16, Ellie, 14, Aimee, 13, Josh, 12, Max, 11, Tillie, nine, Oscar, eight, Casper, seven, Hallie, four, Phoebe, three, Archie, two, Bonnie, one and Heidie, who was born in April.

The family all live in a single house in Morecambe, Lancs, with the exception of the Radfords' eldest children.

Sadly, the couple's 17th child Alfie was still born on July 6, 2014.

They also have three grandchildren – who are Sophie's kids – Daisy, six, Ayprill, four, and Leo, two.

The parents famously don’t claim benefits and rely on Noel’s bakery business to make ends meet.
