Meghan Markle & Prince Harry go up against Donald Trump & Oprah Winfrey in prestigious Time ‘most influential 100’ list

MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry are going up against Donald Trump, Mark Zuckerberg and their pal Oprah Winfrey in TIME magazine's prestigious "most influential 100" list.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are among high profile politicians, musicians, actors and scientists to be included on the publication's shortlist.

The magazine is running a "readers poll" where fans can vote for "people who have had the greatest influence this year" before the Top 100 is decided by editors and revealed on September 22.

Currently, 51 per cent of TIME readers believe the Duke and Duchess – who stepped down as senior working royals in March – DON'T deserve a spot on the list.

What's more, the couple's friend Oprah Winfrey – who reportedly arranged for them to stay in Tyler Perry's £14m LA mansion – has made the shortlist, but just 46 per cent of readers voted that she should be included in the final Top 100.

Politicians such as President Donald Trump, Boris Johnson and Jacinda Arden were also featured on the list of high profile figures.

Other high profile figures include Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, Beyoncé, Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Tom Hanks and the Queen.

Black Lives Matter protesters, Australian firefighters and essential workers are three groups of people to make the shortlist and received overwhelming support from readers.

Climate change activist Greta Thunberg is another fan favourite and 66 per cent of readers believed she should be included.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry previously featured in the Time 100 in 2018 ahead of their wedding – and the the Duchess' friend A-List Priyanka Chopra wrote a glowing bio of the former Suits actress which ran in the magazine.

She wrote: "This ever-smiling, strong free spirit found her prince, fell in love and in turn made a cynical world believe in fairy tales again. But more than anything else, Meghan is an important influencer in a world that needs strong public figures to respect and look up to."
