All the times Meghan Markle and Kate wore strikingly similar outfits

Ten times Meghan Markle and Kate, the Princess of Wales, chose a strikingly similar fashion look (even if they don’t always see eye to eye!)

  • Kate opened Eurovision in a dazzling blue dress – similar to one worn by Meghan!
  • But it’s not the only time they have shared passion for fashion…

The Princess of Wales and the Duchess of Sussex might not always have seen eye to eye but they clearly share a similar sense of style, choosing number of matching outfits over the years.

And they struck again on Saturday, when Kate opened the Eurovision Song Contest in a one-shoulder gown in shades of blue strikingly reminiscent of a one worn by Meghan last year.

In January, two days after Harry’s book, Spare, was released, Kate was spotted wearing a Holland Cooper forest green and navy tartan coat that was almost identical to the Burberry one Meghan Markle wore on her trip to Scotland with Harry in 2018.

The pair even sported similar handbags in the same pine green colour – Meghan’s Strathberry bag with silver detailing and Kate’s Mulberry bag with gold detailing.

Here, MailOnline looks at the times it’s as Meghan and Kate  had looked to each other for inspiration…

Kate appeared on screen at the launch of the Eurovision Song Contest in this vivid blue Jenny Packham dress. Megan had worn a similar, one-shoulder dress by Christopher John Rogers in February 2022

In January, two days after the release of Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare, the Princess of Wales visited Liverpool with a look very similar to one adopted by Meghan in 2018. Both women are pictured in  navy and green tartan longline coats, heels and pine green bags

Magic in monochrome: Meghan Markle looked to Kate Middleton for inspiration, as she donned a £4,000 monochrome jumpsuit – which was near identical to a gown her sister-in-law wore two months before

During a dinner date with the Duke of Sussex in New York, Meghan wore a bold black and white Gabriela Hearst fitted strapless jumpsuit, which she paired with black stilettos and plum clutch bag.

This is strikingly similar to look that Kate wore two months prior in May 2022, when she stepped out in a £2,700 Roland Mouret black gown with an identical white strap detail at the Top Gun: Maverick premiere.

The pair have had many close looks over the years, including when they sported a similar tan coloured coat (a staple in many women’s wardrobes).

Pre-pandemic in January 2020, The Duchess of Sussex wore her beige coloured coat during a trip to Canada House in London.

Kate then opted for a tan-coloured longline coat when she visited the Ukrainian Community Centre in Reading in November last year.

For the Invictus Games in The Hague last year, The Duchess of Sussex sported a £3,200 crisp white Valentino suit, pairing it with her wedding shoes from Aquazzura.

Meghan opted for a double-breasted wool blazer costing £2,100 which she paired with high-waisted pair of trousers costing £1,100 for the occasion.

However, Meghan might have been taking inspiration from Kate, who first wore her white £1,945 Alexander McQueen suit during her royal Caribbean tour, which she also paired with white stilettos.

She also re-wore the suit during the Commonwealth Games in August last year, pairing it with a white top and belt.

The jewellery is also strikingly similar, with the Duchess of Sussex wearing a necklace made by designer Sophie Lis, which carries the engraving ‘Qu’hier’ after a diamond encrusted plus sign, and ‘Que Demain’ followed by a ruby minus sign.

(Translated, it refers to a French soubriquet saying ‘I love you more than yesterday, but less than tomorrow.)

Kate is wearing a similar necklace with a circular pendent and pair of matching drop earrings.

Dazzling: Kate and Meghan wore similar looks again, with the Duchess of Sussex wearing a Valentino suit and the Princess of Wales wearing an Alexander McQueen suit

The Duchess of Sussex wore almost an equivalent burgundy white polka-dot dress to Kate’s just days apart in October 2018

The pair wore almost matching dresses just days apart from each other in 2018, with Kate flashing a smile whilst wearing her long-sleeved burgundy white polka-dot Whistles dress during a meeting in Kensington Palace.

A few days later, the former actress was seen wearing a very similar burgundy printed frock by & Other Stories when she visited Fraser Island in Australia.

Meghan and Kate were also twinning when they wore a similar outfit two years apart.

The Duchess of Sussex wore a boucle jacket with frayed detailing, patch pockets and collarless neckline by ME+EM and black tailored trousers paired with brown and beige heels.

She wore this look when visiting an East London school to talk about International Women’s day in 2020.

The Princess of Wales wore a comparable ensemble on her trip to to a baby bank in June last year.

Kate’s was considerably cheaper, as she wore a £50 cream Zara blazer, black trousers and heels and £550 Kiki Classic Citrine Drop earrings by Kiki McDonough.

In 2016, they matched again when Kate was seen attending a reception at Government House in September 2016 in a red gown, which looked a lot like one that Meghan had worn to the Today show in July of the same year.

Meghan wore a cropped white blazer, a white shirt and black trousers during a visit to a school in 2020. Two years later, Kate opted for a familiar look when visiting a baby bank last year

Kate wore an LK Bennett coat during an appearance in December 2017; Meghan chose one that looks almost exactly the same in January 2018

Meghan opted for a white coat dress while out in November 2017 while Kate wore something similar for a visit to Portsmouth, England, in February 2015

Both ladies have also worn grey plaid outfits before, with Kate sporting an LK Bennett coat during an appearance in December 2017 and Meghan wearing one from the brand Theory in January 2018 – only a month apart.

Meghan gave a nod to Kate’s style during the photoshoot of her engagement to Harry in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace in November 2017. She wore a white coat with a tied belt as she flashed a smile holding the Duke of Sussex’s hand.

Whereas Kate was wore her cream coat dress years before, during a visit in Portsmouth, England, in February 2015.
