Ariana Grande admits she’s a ‘f–kin’ train wreck’ on new ‘Boyfriend’ single

Even Ariana Grande knows that she can be a lot to handle.

The ponytailed pop diva admits as much on her new single and music video “Boyfriend,” a collaboration with Social House, which dropped early Friday.

“I’m a motherf–kin’ train wreck/I don’t wanna be too much,” she sweetly coos at the beginning of this breezy, mid-tempo mix of pop and hip-hop.

Later, Grande makes clear that “you ain’t my boyfriend … and I ain’t your girlfriend” despite the fact that “we be so smitten it’s crazy.” It’s complicated, to say the least.

While “Boyfriend” isn’t on the same level as recent Grande singles “Thank U, Next,” “7 Rings” and “Break Up with Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored,” it’s another catchy confection from the singer. And it finds her giving some love to Social House, the duo of Michael “Mike” Foster and Charles “Scootie” Anderson, who produced her smash album “Thank U, Next” and have been opening for the star on her “Sweetener” tour.

Grande’s latest single also shows once again that the girl just can’t keep herself away from the studio. After releasing her “Sweetener” album in August 2018, she came back just six months later with her “Thank U, Next” LP in February.

Now the hyper-prolific artist is dropping new music again with “Boyfriend.” Can another new album be far behind?

Grande is gearing up for a big month, as she and Taylor Swift lead the contenders for the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards with 10 nominations each. Grande is up for Video of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Pop for “Thank U, Next” — as well as Artist of the Year — at the VMAs, which will be held on Aug. 26 at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.

No matter how much of a train wreck she may be, she still seems to be pretty unstoppable.
