Boy’s Snapchat joke backfires after girlfriend thought he was cheating

Man tricks his girlfriend into thinking he’s cheating by editing a photo of HIMSELF to look like a woman and sending it to her – and he’s now ‘sleeping on the couch’

  • Ryan Hill, 22, used gender-swapping filter to make himself look like a woman
  • He sent snap to girlfriend Melissa Dunsmore, 19, who slammed him for prank
  • Ryan, from Fife, said he’s facing ‘silent treatment’ and been sleeping on couch

A boyfriend’s Snapchat joke backfired after he tricked his partner into believing he was cheating on her.

Ryan Hill said he had been left ‘sleeping on the couch’ and suffering ‘major silent treatment’ after he took a selfie and used a new gender-swapping filter to make himself look like a woman.

The 22-year-old from Crossford, Fife, sent the picture to his girlfriend from his mobile with the taunt: ‘I have your boyfriend’s t-shirt on.’

His transformation was so convincing that his girlfriend Melissa Dunsmore, 19, from Fife didn’t spot any resemblance to Ryan, and was left fuming.

Ryan, pictured, tried to apologise to his girlfriend but said he has been ‘sleeping on the couch with some major silent treatment’ since the stunt

She demanded to know why another woman was wearing his clothes, and told him not to bother coming round after work.

Even when Ryan explained and offered a sheepish apology, Melissa was having none of it and warned him to stay away.

Ryan said he is now suffering ‘major silent treatment’, but this did not stop him sharing his prank on social media.

He posted: ‘Snapchat has a filter that makes you look like a girl, so I thought it would be a good idea to wind my girlfriend up and send her this. She didn’t take it well. See images below.’

The filtered selfie shows Ryan with long hair, rosy cheeks and lipstick.

The next set of images then shows the Melissa’s reaction. She said: ‘Are you f****** serious? Don’t even bother coming here after work.’

His girlfriend Melissa Dunsmore, 19, pictured, told him ‘not to bother’ coming over after work when she saw the message and said she was ‘fuming’ with him

Ryan asked: ‘Why? What was it.’

Melissa replied: ‘Why the f*** has another girl got your t-shirt on? You’re getting blocked.’

After realising his joke had backfired, Ryan wrote: ‘That’s me you idiot. Am sorry. I was winding you up. It’s a filter. Am being serious.’

Melissa said: ‘Awww aye whatever. F*** off. You talk s***. Am f****** fuming. Don’t even bother coming here after work.

Messages sent to each other on Snapchat, pictured, revealed that Melissa didn’t see the funny side of Ryan’s trick and really believed it was another girl wearing his top in the photo

The couple also messaged on Facebook where Melissa told him to not bother coming over

‘It’s not funny Ryan, I don’t even wanna see you right now. I will end up punching you right in the face. Why would you do that?’

Ryan pleaded: ‘OMG it’s only banter – chill out.’

Melissa hit back: ‘Naw it’s no. Send me a picture of what I thought was a lassie wearing your t-shirt. Am absolutely raging.’

Ellie Feather, thought to be referring to her own boyfriend, commented: ‘Omg I think I’d kill Connor.’

Matthew Jenkinson said: ‘This is the main reason I want a girlfriend, so I can wind her the f*** up – this is class.’

Grant Smith admitted that he’d thought about trying to trick his own partner, and Leah Ellis said she would have ‘flipped.’

Thousands of people have commented on the post, with some admitting they would also try to trick their partners by using the new filter

Others agreed with Melissa and said that they would have been annoyed with the prank as well

Dozens of people tagged their partners in the comments and said they would do it as well

Tagging his girlfriend, Jamie Smith said: ‘I want to try this on you, but doesn’t work cos of my beard.’

Ryan said: ‘I just found the Snapchat filter and tried it and was surprised at how much I actually looked like a girl in it.

‘Without thinking I sent the picture and I assumed she would see that it was me with a filter but she went nuts thinking it was actually another girl.

‘I find it great that people share my sense of humour, but unfortunately she has now currently fell out with me and I’m sleeping on the couch with some major silent treatment.’
