Buffy’s Sarah Michelle Gellar goes for the chop and debuts short shaggy bob

It’s been nearly 20 years since Buffy the Vampire Slayer was last on our screens, but Sarah Michelle Gellar doesn’t look like she’s aged a day. The actress has been stepping out to promote her new TV series Wolf Pack – and it seems she’s gone for an on-theme new hairstyle for the occasion.

In a series of shots shared on Instagram by her glam squad, Sarah – who is married to I Know What You Did Last Summer and Scooby-Doo co-star Freddie Prinze Jr. – is seen to have swapped her usual long blonde lengths for a choppy long bob, styled into loose waves. This new hair is paired with a subtle winged eyeliner look and a deep rose lip.

“Fresh chop + day look to night using @rozhair,” celebrity hair stylist Mara Roszak captioned a series of snaps of Sarah, referring to her own hair care brand Rōz, which she used on the Cruel Intentions star.

Followers were not only quick to compliment Sarah on her new look, but also to remark on how time seems to have stood still for the 45-year-old actress.

“So gorgeous! Seriously though, does she even age?!” one person commented underneath celeb make-up artist Rachel Goodwin’s (who did Sarah’s make-up for this event) post.

“Giving Buffy vibes,” another wrote.

Sarah’s new haircut looks like it has been given plenty of volume and movement with choppy, face-framing layers cut into it. In fact, snip in a few more layers and it could almost be classed as a “wolf cut” – very in keeping with the name of her new TV show, we think.

Most recently spotted on Jenna Ortega – star of another dark TV drama, Netflix’s Wednesday – a wolf cut is characterised by textured layers of varying lengths, and a long, messy fringe.

“A wolf cut has shorter choppy layers on the top, blended into a long fringe, and with longer length to the sides and back. The cut also has a soft, wispy feel. A trademark feature of the look is that the short hair has more volume and height while the longer hair falls flatter," says Neil Moodie, celebrity hairstylist and founder of Neil Moodie Studio.
