Andy starts by heating up a generous amount of vegetable oil to 170 degrees for deep frying.

In the meantime he takes a sheet of puff pastry, folds in it half and half again making a square and cuts a donut shape out of it using a circular mould.

‘Once you’ve got your donut shape, you’re going to fry this up in your 170 degree oil about five minutes each side or until golden brown and cooked through,’ Andy explains in the clip.

The home chef takes the donuts out of the pot, places them on paper towel to absorb the excess oil then coats them in cinnamon sugar.

Andy microwaves some Biscoff spread for about 30 seconds and pours some into a piping bag.

He cuts a small hole in the side of each donut and pipes in as much of the Biscoff spread as will fit in the hollow centre.

Recipe: Ten minute Biscoff ‘cronut’

Ingredients

1 x packet frozen puff pastry sheets

Vegetable oil

Cinnamon sugar

1 x jar Lotus Biscoff spread

Method

1. Take the puff pastry out of the freezer and allow to thaw slightly

2. Fill a pot with about two to three inches of vegetable oil and heat on the stove until it reached 170 degrees

3. Take two pastry sheets and fold them half twice to make squares.

4. Using something circular as guide, like a mould or small plate, cut the pastry squares into a circle with a smaller circle in the middle

5. Once the oil has reached 170 degrees, carefully place the donuts in the pot, frying for about five minutes on each side until they are golden brown and cooked through

7. Take them out of the oil and place on some paper towel to absorb the excess oil

8. Pour the cinnamon sugar onto a plate and coat the donuts in the sugar

9. Microwave the Biscoff spread for about 30 seconds in the microwave until gooey

10. Pour the spread into a piping bag. If you don’t have a piping bag, you can use a sandwich bag and cut off the corner

11. Cut a small hole into the side of each donut and pipe as much of the spread as you can fit into the hollow centre
