Couple slammed after being filmed having sex in nightclub in front of 500 people

A couple who were filmed having sex in front of hundreds of nightclub revellers have been branded "idiots".

Captured on a mobile phone, the amorous pair appear completely oblivious to the fact everyone can see them committing the sex act in the middle of the dancefloor.

The video of the incident, which took place at The Beach nightspot in Cleethorpes, North East Lincolnshire, has been widely shared on Facebook with the heading "Sh*****g in The Beach".

The local pubwatch group has said it was 'unacceptable behaviour' and warned anyone caught in the act could be banned from the resort's bars for up to a year, reports Grimsby Live .

Anne Coleman, chairman of Cleethorpes PubWatch, said: "It is not acceptable. Thankfully these incidents are very few and far between. But it is not acceptable.

"It is clear that the door staff and management  were distracted in some way, otherwise they would have dealt with it and ejected the two of them. There would have been about 500 to 600 people in there."

She said the staff were likely dealing with other matters, "like a drunk person", adding: "No one would allow that to happen."

Ms Coleman said the person behind the camera is "just as bad" as the two having sex and while they have thought it was all a laugh, "it is unacceptable".

"They are idiots. Why would any woman allow someone do that to them? Let's be honest. Did they go out that night with the intention of doing that? They were probably drunk. How many people have sex in toilets that you don't know about?"

The chairman went on to say she doubted the police would carry out any kind of investigation but said she and other members of Pubwatch would be "discussing it" at the next meeting.

"I will raise it. But what can you do? It is Christmas, have the police not got enough to do? Yes," she continued.

"Do people want to find out who the couple are? I doubt it."

She said if it had happened at her nightspot she would be "disgusted" but said Humberside Police were unlikely to share the identities of the culprits "due to Data Protection".

Having sex in public is a criminal offence, with laws relating to outraging public decency and behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress contrary to the 1986 Public Order Act.

However, police usually only take any action if a complaint is made, with fines usually between £300 to £500.

Ms Coleman warned that bad behaviour in bars and clubs can lead to a series of sanctions starting with a warning, then bans of between three months, six months or a year. She said the footage should be remove.

Another unnamed manager, who has years of experience in the Cleethorpes night time economy, said the incident reflected "everything that is wrong with the industry and why licensing laws need to be observed and enforced".

Philip Campbell, manager of The Beach, said something like this has never happened before in his club and is "not the norm in Cleethorpes".

"This kind of behaviour is not tolerated.

"We have zero-tolerance to drugs, aggression and sex. People come to have a nice time. On Mad Friday everywhere was busy. It would have happened out of the eyeline of staff, door staff and management. But as soon as they were spotted it would have been stopped and the people asked to leave."

He added: "People have kisses all the time. But if it gets to this level someone is going to be taken out. It is something that needs to be done in their private lives. If people take their shirts off in the club they are asked to put them back on."

Mr Campbell said the festive period had been a successful one for his venues, with no other incidents to cause concern.
