Cut the cost of shopping online by singing up to delivery and reward schemes — plus play to win £50k on the Sun Savers Raffle – The Sun
WITH one pound in every fiver being spent online, the phrase “add to basket” is becoming more and more familiar.
It can be a great way to save but delivery costs can stack up if you are not careful.
Here are my tips to help drive them down.
Pay monthly: This can help trim your weekly delivery bill. Sign up to Asda’s delivery pass scheme and you can get unlimited, any day or time delivery, for £6 a month.
On average, delivery costs around £3 per shop. But if you do a big shop every week you can halve your delivery outgoings. Tesco has a similar scheme starting at £3.49 per month, but you will still pay at least £2 per shop — it does include a month free, but Asda still comes out on top if you are doing one large shop a week.
Health and beauty: Sign up to Superdrug’s Health and Beautycard scheme to benefit from free delivery on orders over £10 — usually over £15 for non-members.
Plus, you can rack up points to use on future orders and exclusive discounts.
Fashion: H&M members benefit from free standard delivery on a minimum £20 spend — the non-member delivery charge is £3.99 whatever you spend. For every 100 points you collect, it will also give you a £3 bonus voucher. If you are always forking out on “next day” deliveries, you could pay for an “unlimited next day delivery option” from the likes of ASOS or Next (from £6 per month) which is better than spending on standard delivery of around £3. Team up with a friend to cut the yearly cost in half and you can share the perks, too.
Fragrance: Perfume is an easy gift for all occasions but it is not always so easy on a budget — so the last thing you want is added delivery costs. Visit theperfumeshop.com to sign up to its rewards club where members benefit from unlimited next day delivery for a one-off payment of £5. Next day delivery is usually £3.99 — so that is a massive saving. Also, if you refer a friend you will both receive a £10 voucher. Win, win.
