I want to please my wife but I can't sustain an erection – Viagra is not working

DEAR DEIDRE: I’VE got a big void in my life because I can’t sustain an erection.

My wife and I have been together for 30 years and we are both 58.

I’ve been to see my doctor and he has given me some Viagra. But it doesn’t seem to be working.

My wife gets frustrated, waiting for me to get aroused.

She’s never been into foreplay, so if I try anything other than straight sex, she ends up turning her back on me.

It is so upsetting. I think we’ve had sex three times in the last year.

I wonder whether this year will see the end of my sex life all together? I hope not.

DEIDRE SAYS: If you’ve had these difficulties in the past, it won’t take much for something to put you off your stride.

Find a moment when you’re not in bed, to explain to your wife that you’d like her support, rather than her getting cross.

Foreplay may not be her thing, but it would help you, so suggest other ways to get aroused such as having a soothing massage together.
