Make the most of your scented cleaning products with our top tips – The Sun

WE’RE all cleaning our homes like mad to keep the dreaded Covid-19 at bay.

Old-favourite scented disinfectant Zoflora is now trending once again. But fragrant cleansers such as this are good for all sorts of tasks, some of which you may not have thought of . . .

WHAT A BEAUTY: Make-up fans love using fragrant disinfectants to keep their beauty kit super-clean and fresh-smelling. So while you are going mostly bare-faced at home at the moment, why not give that kit a good clean? Make-up bags can harbour all sorts of bacteria so use a cloth soaked in diluted Zoflora to regularly wipe them. You can do the same for your make-up packaging. If your supermarket does not stock Zoflora, or you fancy a bigger bottle of product, you can get the equally sweet-smelling Dettol Lavender & Orange Oil, just £2 for 250ml, from Asda.

WASHING UP: As a cheap alternative to popular air-fresheners and to save time, pour a capful of scented Zoflora Cranberry Disinfectant, £2 at Aldi, into your washing-up bowl and add boiling water — it will make your kitchen smell lovely and disinfect the sink. To make more of your capful, pop dirty dishcloths in the water and leave overnight — they will be clean the next day.

WIPE RIGHT: If you are fed up with all the constant cleaning of surfaces these days, make life a little easier by just grabbing a pack of anti-bacterial wipes. It may be a more expensive way to work but Asda currently has Dettol Big and Strong Kitchen Wipes for £2, down from £3. These are super-handy and great for tough stains other wipes may struggle with.

CALMING CLEAN: Lavender can help to de-stress, which is handy right now, so I am cleaning my bed-room with W5 Lavender All-Purpose Cleaner, 85p from from Lidl. This way, I know my bedroom is germ-free, cleaning does not feel too hectic and there is a nice scent left behind that will not irritate come night-time. Plus, this product is cheaper than big-brand options or expensive lavender room-fresheners.

ANGIE WAYMAN, of Banstead in Surrey, says: “To remove old tea stains from cups, soak overnight in baking soda and water. The cup will come up like new. You can even use the same solution for the next cup.”
