Marks and Spencers slimming £25 bodysuit hailed as best shapewear ever

Wearing the right underwear creates the perfect base for your outfit, and well fitting shapewear can help make you feel more confident as it smooths and accentuates your figure beneath your clothes.

Finding the right shapewear for you – and your outfit – can be tricky, though, and with so many options out there it can feel overwhelming trying to decide what type of shapewear you need.

Shoppers have been praising Marks and Spencer’s Body Define Firm Control Wear Your Own Bra Bodysuit,£25 here , as being the ‘best shapewear ever’ after it helps create a ‘slimming’ and ‘flattering effect under their clothes.

The M&S shapewear fits under your clothes like a bodysuit, however, is cut away under the bust which allows you to wear your own bra with it – ideal for those who may have a different bust size compared to their dress size, with many reviewers admitting they loved that the bodysuit covered your whole body, but left your bust uncovered so you can wear your own bra with it.

Although it’s great for wearing your own bra with it, the multiple straps can make it tricker to wear underneath a strappy or sleeveless dress, with one reviewer saying: “The body is firm and a little awkward to get on and off but very comfortable once it’s on. Having to wear a separate bra is not ideal with four straps but apart from that it’s good. The studs are good and stay in place well.”

It has a ‘firm’ control level, which means it holds you in and creates a smoothing effect across any lumps and bumps, and features sheer striped panel inserts for a bold look. The bodysuit features stretch panels that help to gently compress and control your figure, giving the illusion of a slimmer figure underneath your clothes.

The Body Define Bodysuit is available in both black and a light beige colour, and comes in sizes 8-24. Some reviewers recommended sizing up for a more comfortable fit, with one reviewer recommending: “Fabulous, but go up a size if you are long bodied as it runs a bit small.”

Another taller shopper found a similar problem, writing: “I bought this a while ago and it works great until I sit down and the poppers pop undone – I’m 5’8” so maybe it needs to be a bit longer in the body or have stronger poppers. Real shame as it feels and looks fab up to the point of sitting down – which I’m sure people can hear too, I certainly hear them pop. This either needs to be made for taller women or to have a different and stronger style of popper.”

If you find bodysuits are often a little short for you, sizing up can definitely help to add a little extra stretch and length, making it more comfortable for you to wear. Plenty of other people found the bodysuit to be comfortable with just the right amount of stretch and compression.

A bodysuit is a great option for under both dresses and jumpsuits, as it eliminates the risk of creating rolls above the waistband as can happen with some control shorts and knickers.
