Meghan Markle and Prince Harry ‘not releasing official royal baby merchandise’

There will be no official merchandise to mark the birth of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's son, according to reports.

The Royal Collection Trust has said it 'has no new ranges to announce' despite the arrive of Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor last week.

Such occasions are traditionally celebrated with official products like plates or mugs, as was the case in 2015 when a new range of official chinaware was released by the RCT for Princess Charlotte's birth.

But the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to have broken another 'tradition' in their bid to keep private what they can of Archie's life.

A spokeswoman for the RCT said: "We have no new ranges to announce", the Sunday Telegraph reports.

However, they did release a limited edition of ' Royal Baby Bear' by Merrythought to mark the historic occasion.

Only 100 of the handmade bears, which costs £125 each, are available to buy.

Some of these bears were quickly seen on eBay at a listed price up to £2,500.

Tony Appleton, an unofficial town crier at Windsor to ring the birth, told the Telegraph: "I am very disappointed.

"I always buy some mugs or plates to celebrate. It is part of the tradition. The public look forward to it."

Unofficial merchandises such as commemorative rugs, tea towels and tote bags can be seen at several retailers.

Historic Royal Palaces, the independent charity shop, sold the products from £9.99.

John Lewis has launched a mug and a tea towel, both at £10, in mark the birth of Prince Harry and Meghan's first baby.

Marks & Spencer is selling commemorative biscuit tins and Tillets, a Norwich-based jeweller, has unveiled a diamond pavé-set 925 sterling silver nappy cream lid, priced at £4,250, to celebrate the royal birth.
