No, There Wont Be A Real Housewives Of New York City Reunion This Year\u2014And The Cast Is Beyond Frustrated

For months, The Real Housewives of New York City fans have been wondering when the season 13 reunion will air. But there’s no need to hold a seance—Bravo finally has the answer. Sadly, this season of RHONY will be the first Housewives season ever to skip a reunion, according to Entertainment Tonight.

“Due to scheduling challenges around taping the reunion of The Real Housewives of New York City in a timely manner, Bravo confirmed there will not be a reunion for this season,” a network spokesperson explained. “It’s disappointing to not be able to bring the cast back together, but we are happy to have ended on such a high note with the finale, and are now shifting our focus to next season.”

Confused? You’re not alone. A source mentioned to ET that the RHONY cast is “beyond frustrated” by Bravo’s decision—and that they still don’t know why Bravo decided to cancel the reunion in the first place.

“They never got clear answers,” the source said. “They just wanted to say their piece and move on. Some of the ladies feel like the reunion would’ve given them a chance to come together as a united front and put the negative energy of the season behind them.”

So, what’s the deal? Here’s everything to know so far about why the RHONY season 13 reunion was never meant to be:

In early September, plans for a reunion were still on.

Just a few weeks ago, Bravo and the NYC Housewives were ready to bare it all on camera. Newbie Eboni K. Williams told Variety back in August that “I was told a time. I was told that we’re having a reunion. I was told what to wear to said reunion.”

Eboni also mentioned to Entertainment Tonight that she thought her fellow Housewives were excited for the reunion, too. “Everybody’s incentivized to make the reunion happen,” she said. “I’m looking very much forward to this reunion. I think my castmates are, too, because a lot of crap went down this season. And it’ll be great, I think, for everybody to be able to express how they feel, how they felt watching it back. I mean, for me as a newbie, I mean, it was a lot.”

And on Sept. 1, a source told People that the reunion was going to be filmed “soon,” after production delays were resolved. So an end-of-season special (complete with iconic fights on plush couches) definitely seemed like it was in the works.

This season, RHONY had super low ratings.

According to Variety, one reason why Bravo might have pulled the plug on the reunion was because this season’s ratings were unusually low. Per Nielsen’s Live + Same Day ratings, the season finale on Aug. 31 only brought in 841,000 viewers—compared to season 12’s finale, which raked in over 1.1 million viewers.

The low numbers could have convinced Bravo that fans wouldn’t watch a RHONY reunion this time around, per Variety.

The cast was dreading filming the season 13 reunion.

Even though the cast as a whole was looking forward to a reunion, a few Housewives have said the news was a relief. “As much as I do feel we have things we all need to talk with each other, I’m also really relieved to not have to talk about things that happened a year ago,” cast member Leah McSweeney explained in an Instagram Story.

“At this point it’s a long time ago and it was a rough year, all around, in general,” she added. “And it’s been a season that I feel like has been unfairly torn apart and we all gone through the ringer while it was filming and while it was airing. So now there’s no reunion.”

One source told Entertainment Tonight that the other Housewives also had “no interest” rehashing arguments that took place more than a year ago. However, that also means they won’t get any closure on the feuds and strained relationships that this season created (a.k.a. the bad blood between Eboni, Luann de Lesseps, and Ramona Singer).

So, while plenty of the ladies are content without a reunion, there are lots of loose ends this season that won’t be tied up.

But you can still peek at some of the Housewives’ reunion looks.

Of course, one of the best parts of any Housewives reunion is the killer dresses. While you won’t get to see the NYC ladies in all their glam glory, Eboni posted a sneak peek at what would’ve been her custom-made, over-the-top reunion gown on Instagram.

“Disappointed I won’t get to wear this masterpiece at my first #RHONY reunion,” she wrote in an Instagram Story with a shot of her stunning white dress:

Here’s hoping that a season 14 reunion will bring allll the drama.
