Prince William Struggled With Helping Kate Middleton Through Bouts of Severe Morning Sickness

Parenthood is one of the most difficult jobs anyone can go through – including members of the royal family.

Kate Middleton got candid about being a new mother during a recent appearance on the Happy Mum, Happy Baby Podcast, where she got real about her experiences with severe morning sickness, or hyperemesis gravidarum.

"I got very bad morning sickness, so I’m not the happiest of pregnant people," she said of her experience. "Lots of people have it far, far worse, but it was definitely a challenge. Not just for me but also for your loved ones around you – and I think that’s the thing–being pregnant and having a newborn baby and things like that, impacts everybody in the family."

But it wasn't just Kate that her sickness affected during pregnancy – Prince William wanted to try and make things better for his wife, but there just wasn't much he could do about it in the end.

"You know, William didn’t feel he could do much to help and it’s hard for everyone to see you suffering without actually being able to do anything about it. I was really sick. I wasn’t eating the things I should be eating. But yet, the body was still able to take all the goodness from my body and to grow new life, which I think is fascinating." Kate said of the trying time in her pregnancy.

But even though she had to deal with the downsides of feeling nauseous while her body got to work growing an actual human being, Kate found a positive to the experience as well.

"It was through hyperemesis that I really realized the power of the mind over the body because I really had to try everything and everything to try and help me through it," she said, explaining that she investigated a process called hypnobirthing to get through it.

"There’s levels of it. I’m not going to say that William was standing there sort of, chanting sweet nothings at me. He definitely wasn’t! I didn’t even ask him about it, but it was just something I wanted to do for myself."

It certainly sounds like Prince William was there to do anything he could for Kate, even though he initially struggled with being a father after he had children
