‘Promising schoolgirl’ caught dealing drugs after falling into the wrong crowd

A woman caught drug dealing to fund her heroin addiction after she "fell in with the wrong crowd" has been given a second chance to turn her life around.

Hull Crown Court heard how 21-year-old Lucy Sirrs had been a “promising schoolgirl” before she mixed with the wrong people and started taking heroin.

She eventually became a street dealer to fund her growing addiction.

Her tearful mother saved her from an immediate jail sentence on Monday after she told the court about her daughter's battle with her demons, Hull Live reports .

Sirrs was found by police with an Kinder Egg capsule which was stuffed with £790 worth of crack cocaine on July 3 last year.

Prosecutor Stephen Welch told the court officers found the drugs on Sirrs when they were called to Withernsea  over an unrelated incident.

He said: “The amount was just under eight grams of crack cocaine and a phone was also seized which related to the offences which was used by two people. One of them was later found to be the defendant.

“The defendant in interview later said she was offending to fund her habit.”
