Simon Cowell ‘far too classy’ to make mini-me son Eric an influencer, says expert

After axing The X Factor this year, Simon Cowell is working on new and exciting projects – and he’s got grand plans for his son.

Seven-year-old Eric is set to follow in his dad’s footsteps, the music mogul has revealed.

Speaking of stepping back from telly, he told the Sunday Mirror: “Eric is a little me. When he’s playing up a bit, I say to him, ‘Remember, Daddy has already done all this.

“I’m encouraging him to go into show business.”

Simon’s created quite the legacy in the music industry – but what are his grand plans for Eric?

Popular Culture Expert Nick Ede says influencing and reality TV are a no-go for the savvy celebrity.

He tells OK!: “Simon won’t want his son to be a reality star or influencer. He has far more class than that. It’ll be all about business and talent from them for sure.”

After his success as a talent scout and record producer in the 80s and 90s, Simon hit the big time in 2001 as a judge on Pop Idol.

He then created the X Factor and the ‘Got Talent’ competitions around the world.

Eric will be used to meeting his dad’s famous friends, including Britain’s Got Talent judges David Walliams, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden.

The youngster made his judging debut on the show in 2017, giving fans a sneak peek into his future filling dad’s shoes.

Nick adds: “Eric will get valuable practise by watching his father’s amazing work ethic, and learning to never say no.

“He will learn to be good at business, have an eye for talent and have more than one trick up his sleeve – it’s easy to forget that Simon isn’t just a media personality, he’s a talented TV producer, format developer and an A&R (artists and repertoire) man.”

The doting dad has already cemented Eric’s future in the spotlight by signing a father-son book deal.

Last year, the duo signed a deal to publish seven children’s books about ‘magical and unusual’ hybrid animals, celebrating ‘individuality and positivity’.

Nick comments: “Whether you’re Paris Hilton, Kendall Jenner or Brooklyn Beckham, famous kids enter showbiz almost by osmosis.

“I’m sure Simon who knows the ups and downs of fame very well will be the perfect mentor for his son to maximise his fame if he chooses to go down the showbiz route.”

Simon dropped out of school at 16 and scored a job in the mailroom of EMI Music Publishing – his rocketing rise to fame is an important lesson for Eric, says Nick.

“Simon thrives on his mistakes and knows that the journey to super stardom is often a rocky one, but that’s what makes you stronger.

“He’ll look at the success of the big superstar families, but Cowell is a different species – he’ll want Eric to be happy and successful, and also be able to make money and work hard like he does.”

For now, the music mogul is mindful of his son’s privacy as he enjoys a relatively normal childhood – for a super rich kid!

Eric’s safety above all is Simon’s priority.

“Eric is a young boy and needs to have as normal of a life as possible. I know both Simon and Lauren [Silverman] will have that as their utmost important goal.”
