Starbucks Eat Out to Help Out prices include a latte or cappuccino for £1.40

STARBUCKS customers will be able to pick up a latte or cappuccino for £1.40 as part of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme.

The coffee chain has confirmed its food and drink will be discounted by 50 per cent.

It means a small latte or cappuccino will cost £1.38 instead of £2.76.

If you fancy something cooling, a small caramel frappuccino will come to £1.92 rather than £3.84.

As food is also being discounted, an all day breakfast roll – containing scrambled eggs, pork sausages and smoked bacon in a crusty roll – will cost £4.32 instead of £2.16.

A sweet treat, such as a blueberry muffin, will be reduced to £1.19 from £2.38.

You can see more examples of Starbucks discounts in the box above.

Keep in mind these discounts only apply on days when the Eat Out to Help Out deal is on.

Prices will also vary slightly depending on your location – but you'll still get 50 per cent off the original cost up to to a maximum of £10 per person.

Eat Out to Help Out sees diners get half price meals and non-alcoholic drinks, up to £10 a head, in restaurants, cafes and pubs throughout August.

It launches on August 3 and will run until August 31, with the discount applying on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Businesses don’t have to sign up to the scheme.

How will the Eat Out to Help Out scheme work?

THE government will cover half of the cost of a meal out, up to £10 a head, including children's meals.

The discount means that a meal out for one that costs £20 will be reduced to £10, but a £25 meal for one will be slashed to £15 because of the £10 cap per person.

There is no limit to the number of times you can use the discount, so in theory you can get half price meals on every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in August.

Businesses will need to register with the scheme on Gov.uk before being able to offer the discount, as well as be Food Standards Agency approved.

Instead of issuing discount vouchers – which the government felt increased the risk of fraud – restaurants, cafes and pubs will be able to claim back the cash.

The refund will then been transferred into restaurants, cafes and pubs' bank accounts within five working days.

Customers will only receive the discount if they eat out at a registered business.

The government has just launched a new postcode checker so you can see all the businesses that will be offering the scheme.
