Get ready for the summer of secrets and scandal.

The “Gossip Girl” reboot (July 8 on HBO Max), is set in the same world as the original series but follows a new cast of characters. Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) and Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley) might have moved on from their prep-school days, but nine years after the original “Gossip Girl” blog went dark, a new generation of New York teens must deal with the ramifications of social surveillance that spills their secrets and follows their wild antics.

“To me, it was ‘Who was the best actor for the role?’ ” creator Joshua Safran said, adding that his casting director searched widely for a mixture of fresh-faced unknowns and rising stars who might have niche fan bases. For instance, Thomas Doherty isn’t a household name, but he has 4.3 million Instagram followers. “He’s famous in the Disney world,” Safran said.

Below, your essential guide to who’s who in the new “Gossip Girl” universe.

Zoya Lott

Played by: Whitney Peak

Zoya fills the Dan Humphrey slot as the fish out of water. She’s the new girl at the exclusive Constance Billard prep school, and she’s not accustomed to her classmates’ lavish lifestyles. She lives with her single dad, and is the half-sister to queen bee Julien Calloway (Jordan Alexander). Actress Peak, 18, might be a familiar face if you watched Netflix’s “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” since she played Judith (Prudence’s half-sister).

Julien Calloway

Played by: Jordan Alexander

Julien is the reboot’s Serena van der Woodsen — an infamous, globe-trotting party girl on the old show — with some crucial updates for 2021. For one, she happily rocks a buzzed haircut: a stark contrast to Serena’s signature flaxen mane. And she’s not just high-school famous — she’s a social media influencer with millions of fans who follow her viral videos online. She’s got a long-term boyfriend, Obie (Eli Brown) and a loyal BFF, Audrey (Emily Alyn Lind). Alexander, 27, has also appeared in “Sacred Lies,” the Facebook Watch drama series about a cult.

Max Wolfe

Played by: Thomas Doherty

Max is the group’s pot-stirrer. He’s a pansexual party king who loves getting into trouble. He’s sort of the Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick) of the group, as the wild-child bad boy (with some adjustments for 2021, because on this version of the show, “queer identity is talked about differently,” creator Joshua Safran told The Post). Scottish actor Doherty, 26, is arguably the best-known of the bunch. He’s been on “The Lodge” and “Descendants” (both Disney), the CW’s “Vampire Diaries” spinoff show “Legacies,” and played Zoë Kravitz’s rocker love interest in Hulu’s “High Fidelity.”

Audrey Hope

Played by: Emily Alyn Lind

Audrey has some notable Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) qualities. Her relationship with Julien is less frenemy-ish in the beginning of the new show than Blair and Serena’s original dynamic, but just like her predecessor, she’s got a steady boyfriend (Aki, played by Evan Mock), an always-poised aesthetic and a troubled home life. Lind, 19, is best known for starring as Young Amanda Clarke on “Revenge” and for roles in movies “The Babysitter” and “Doctor Sleep.”

Obie Bergmann

Played by: Eli Brown

As the golden boy, Julien’s boyfriend Obie has a dash of Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford) in him (although, truth be told, he looks more like Badgley’s ruffled Dan). Brown, 21, recently appeared in the Jason Statham movie “Wrath of Man,” and as a nice preparation for “Gossip Girl,” he played a troubled yet gifted gay musician in “Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists.”

Aki Menzies

Played by: Evan Mock

Aki is a pink-haired skater punk in a long-term relationship with Audrey. He’s quiet at first, content to let his friends soak up the drama, but he’s coming to some important self-discoveries. With his love of film, he’s got something in common with the original show’s artsy Vanessa (Jessica Szohr), and his sweet, innocent vibe also adds a dash of Serena’s younger brother Eric (Connor Paolo). “Gossip Girl” is Mock’s first role, although you might know the 24-year-old Hawaiian actor from his modeling for brands such as Louis Vuitton and for his social media posts with celebs such as Travis Scott and Frank Ocean.

Monet de Haan

Played by: Savannah Smith

Monet is the ultimate queen bee. She’s not a famous influencer like Julien, but she’s a mix of Blair and Serena on a bad day, who rules the school proudly wielding her wealth and her sharp tongue. It’s too soon to tell, but with tension brewing between Julien and Monet, she could shape up to be like troublemaker Georgina Sparks (Michelle Trachtenberg). “Gossip Girl” is 20-year-old Smith’s first role, which she nabbed through auditions. She’s currently a student at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.

Kate Keller

Played by: Tavi Gevinson

Despite the promotional posters for the show, which depict her face alongside the teen characters, new teacher Kate isn’t exactly in the inner circle. Gevinson, 25, is the most famous cast member aside from Doherty, as she’s acted in “The Simpsons” and “Scream Queens.” Since she ascended to online fame at a young age (via her fashion blog Style Rookie), she’s essentially a real-life version of Julien’s character.
