Arsenal have youngest side in the Premier League this season thanks to stars like Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe

ARSENAL boast the youngest starting XI in the Premier League this season as Mikel Arteta's youth revolution continues.

The Gunners boss regularly starts the likes of Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe after they worked their way through the youth ranks.

And now it's been revealed Arsenal boast the most-youthful starting XI in the entire league.

After seven games of the 2021-22 season, the average age of all of Arteta's starting line ups is just 24 years and 276 days.

That's nearly a YEAR younger than second-placed Brentford on 25 years and 152 days.

Southampton have the only other starting XI to average under 26 years.

Manchester United and City sit eighth and ninth respectively – with just NINE DAYS separating their average starting XI age – behind Aston Villa, Tottenham, Norwich and Leeds.

At the other end of the scale, Burnley have the oldest starting XI, according to the numbers.

Sean Dyche's starting XIs have averaged 29 years and 39 days this season.

Only Crystal Palace, Watford, West Ham and Wolves have fielded line ups averaging over 28 years old.

Arteta will seemingly continue his youthful revolution at the Emirates, with Arsenal slowly working their way up the table following an abysmal start to the season.

Saka and Gabriel Martinelli are both only 20, with Smith Rowe 21.

New signings Albert Sambi Lokonga and Nuno Tavares are both still only 21, with Eddie Nketiah, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Martin Odegaard all 22.

Aaron Ramsdale – who appears to have stolen the No1 jersey from Bernd Leno – is still only 23, the same age as top centre-backs Ben White and Gabriel Magalhaes.

On the flip side, club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the oldest member of the squad aged 32, with Alexandre Lacazette – set to leave the club in 2022 – the next most-senior aged 30.
