Aymeric Laporte joins Ilkay Gundogan, Phil Foden and John Stones in Man City's US pre-season tour snub | The Sun

AYMERIC Laporte has joined Ilkay Gundogan, Phil Foden and John Stones in snubbing Man City's pre-season tour in the US, according to reports.

The defender becomes the latest star to miss out on the senior team's travels in Texas where they will face Club America and Bayern Munich.

Gundogan, Foden and Stones will join up with the U23 team who are touring in Europe, reports the Mail.

It is unknown yet if Laporte will join up with them instead.

No reasons have been given for why the senior players are missing from the squad.

But City are far from the only Premier League team who will see players miss out on pre-season tours.

Crystal Palace have only 10 outfield players for their tour to Singapore and Australia because some have not "met the entry requirements".

Wilfried Zaha and Marc Guehi are among those who have not travelled.

Palace have not confirmed if the absences are Covid-related.

Meanwhile at Chelsea, midfielders N'Golo Kante and Ruben Loftus-Cheek were forced to miss the Blues' trip to America due to their Covid vaccination status, the club announced.

City head to Texas having secured huge signings ahead of another highly-anticipated Premier League season.

Erling Haaland arrived last month for £51m, with high expectations placed on the striker after his impressive years at Dortmund.

Pep Guardiola's team also moved to secure the services of Leeds' Kalvin Phillips as they look to fill the hole left by Fernandinho, who left on a free to return to Brazil.

It is has been a busy window in terms of outgoings also, with fans saying goodbye to major players like Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling, who have both left for London.

Reports have suggested City could be weighing up a move for Arsenal's Bukayo Saka as they look to find Sterling's replacement this window.
