Bears’ Andy Dalton ‘QB1’ tweet looks even worse after drafting Justin Fields

Chicago Bears fans lost their minds over a seemingly innocuous tweet in March that proclaimed free-agency signing Andy Dalton as their “QB1.”

On Thursday night, the team shocked the NFL world by trading up for Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields. Which rendered that tweet – and all of its’ brutal replies – somewhat irrelevant.

The tweet made the rounds again on Twitter after the Bears moved up in a trade with the Giants, sending a future first-rounder and a pair of mid-round picks to New York for the dynamic Ohio State quarterback.

GM Ryan Pace insisted after the draft that Dalton will remain their starter, and the team will have a “really good plan in place” to develop Fields to eventually take over down the line.

Still, it brought flashbacks to the 2017 offseason, when Chicago signed Mike Glennon to a three-year contract only to trade up and select Mitchell Trubisky second overall.

The Bears even invited Glennon to their draft party that year with fans, who got to watch as he was replaced in real time.
