Classy Cristiano Ronaldo gives Andros Townsend his Man Utd shirt despite storming off pitch after Everton draw

EVERTON ace Andros Townsend has paid tribute to Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo after his goal on Saturday afternoon.

The ex-England winger, 30, copied the Portuguese's famous 'sui' celebration after scoring the equaliser in the 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

Townsend took to Instagram on Saturday evening to post three photos from the Premier League clash between Man Utd and Everton.

The first photo was him celebrating his goal, the second was him talking to Ronaldo and the third was CR7's match-worn shirt from the game.

Townsend wrote on Insta: "Nothing but respect to the GOAT."

The the 13-cap international appeared to be mocking Ronaldo when he performed the 'sui' celebration at Old Trafford.

The disappointed icon stormed down the Old Trafford tunnel after the game and appeared reluctant to speak to anyone.

Man Utd hero Rio Ferdinand sympathised with his former team-mate, telling BT Sport: "We have all been there."

But Ronaldo later gave Townsend his famous No7 shirt – an item of clothing every Premier League player will be after this season.

And the Everton ace was keen to clarify his celebration after the match, telling the press: "This guy is my idol.

"I grew up watching Cristiano Ronaldo and I spent hours on the training pitch trying to execute his techniques.

"Maybe I should have spent a bit longer on the celebration because it wasn't grea.

"But it was out of respect for Cristiano and it is an honour to be on the same field as him."
