Conor McGregor shows off nasty black eye at wedding picked up in brutal sparring for Dustin Poirier fight at UFC 264

CONOR McGREGOR showed off a nasty black eye ahead of his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier as he got suited and booted for a wedding.

The Irishman, notoriously suave as ever, celebrated the wedding of his advisor Matthew Gilbert-Hamerling of Fulton Management.

Dressed in a 'shark skin' grey suit, McGregor cut a sharp look, but fans online could not help but notice the shiner on his left eye.

One commented: "Black eye of champs."

Another wrote: "Oh he’s been sparring hard"

One posted: "Black eye he’s ready."

It comes as no surprise McGregor looks rough and ready for his return at UFC 264 on July 10.

He recently boasted of a TEN MILE cycle ride to the gym before sparring.

McGregor has relocated to America having spent time in Dubai on vacation with his fiancee and children.

The southpaw star initially knocked out Poirier in round one down at featherweight in 2014.

But when the 32-year-old pair rematched in January at lightweight, the favour was returned setting up a blockbuster trilogy decider.

Poirier became the first man to KO McGregor in the UFC, having targeted his legs with brutal calf kicks before closing the show in the second round.

The American's boxing coach Dyah Davis predicted a similar game plan – this time ending with a third-round stoppage.

Davis told MMA Junkie: "I take this approach as if a lumberjack, we’re in a forest.

"The idea is to chop the tree down from the bottom and that’s exactly what we did.

"It’s a fight. So we look for any weaknesses that we could take advantage of and that was one of them.

"So we capitalised and we moved on from there and ended up finishing him with strikes.”

“I think it’ll play out similar to the second fight, maybe a little bit longer. I see us executing and getting a KO victory in the third round.”
