Floyd Mayweather says he’s ‘coming out of retirement’ in Instagram post
His undefeated record is going to be on the line.
At 50-0, Floyd Mayweather Jr. has not been in a competitive boxing match since his August 2017 bout against Conor McGregor. His TKO victory that night allowed him to surpass Rocky Marciano's 49-0 mark, and Mayweather walked away aside from a few exhibitions since then.
That's going to change next year. On Thursday evening, Mayweather, 42, posted an Instagram wearing boxing shorts and his hands taped up, saying "Coming out of retirement in 2020."
Earlier in the night, he and UFC president Dana White were photographed together at a Boston Celtics game. In that photo's caption, Mayweather teased a partnership with White, writing that the two were "working together again to bring the world another spectacular event in 2020."

As for who Mayweather will fight upon his return to the ring, that remains to be seen. UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, who defeated McGregor at UFC 229, challenged Mayweather to a boxing match last year. A potential rematch against former adversary Manny Pacquiao has been teased, too.
