Gareth Bale BOOED and whistled as he comes on as a sub for Real Madrid after flag row – The Sun

GARETH BALE was booed and whistled as he came on as a substitute for Real Madrid on Saturday night.

The winger is already far from the most popular player with fans of the club, given his injury record and the perception that he does not enjoy suiting up in white.

He further angered the Los Blancos faithful after holding up a flag while on international duty this week.

Bale held up the Welsh flag – Y Ddraig Goch – with the words 'Wales. Golf. Madrid. In That Order' after Ryan Giggs' side secured qualification to Euro 2020.

And fans let him know they were unhappy with the gesture when he came on as a sub with 65 minutes played against Real Sociedad.

Bale's introduction was met with loud boos and whistles from around the ground.

Earlier, some fans held up their own sign to mock Bale.

It read: ""Rodrygo. Vini. Lucas. Bale. In that Order."

The 30-year-old had a hand in the third goal, playing a pass into Karim Benzema who headed down for Luka Modric to score.

Bale's agent Jonathan Barnett said on Thursday that his client meant no offence with the gesture.

It was instead "meant for the media".
