Harry Kane 'on Bayern Munich shortlist to succeed Robert Lewandowski' if striker leaves amid Chelsea transfer interest | The Sun

TOTTENHAM striker Harry Kane has reportedly been identified by Bayern Munich as Robert Lewandowski's long-term successor.

Poland international Lewandowski has just one year left on his contract at the Allianz Arena and has no desire to extend his stay.

The 33-year-old is keen to link up with Barcelona, with the Blaugrana recently lodging a £34million offer to sign him.

Chelsea have also been linked with Thomas Tuchel in the market for a replacement for Romelu Lukaku.

Lewandowski publicly declared he wishes to depart the Bundesliga champions in May, but the Bavarian side are in limbo as to whether to cash in on the forward or keep him for his final year.

However they know that the time will come either this summer or in 2023 that they will need to replace the ex-Borussia Dortmund marksman.

And, according to Kicker, England's skipper Kane has been lined up as Bayern's preferred target.

They state that a move for the 28-year-old is "conceivable", but would be "difficult" this summer.

However they could look to lure him to Germany next summer when Kane has just a year left on his Tottenham deal.

Bayern could now look to bring in an interim striker for the next campaign before pressing ahead with a move for Kane in 2023.

Kane all-but confirmed in June that he will snub a transfer away after helping Antonio Conte's side secure Champions League football.

Speaking prior to Three Lions' Nations League clashes, he said: "Whenever you finish strongly with your club there is always a freer mind going into the international stage.

"Obviously, last summer we had a major European competition, a large tournament. So of course you have different feelings towards that than maybe you would towards the Nations League games.

"It was a fantastic summer last year in terms of the tournament. It ended obviously very disappointingly, but going into these games I feel confident, I feel free.
